Hit Man is great. Linklater, as usual, does not disappoint. It's his own, special thing, but while I was watching at some points I thought of Woody Allen, and others the Coen Brothers. Very entertaining.

Oh yea, and this is streaming on Netflix now too...

Re-uped with Netflix recently and watched S1 E1 this morning. Really well done show. The wife was having panic attacks watching the inside the peloton sprint footage.

Yeah that rear cam footage really gives you a sense of how fast and scary the last K of a sprint stage is. Good stuff.

Men at Work is now on Netflix. Used to love that movie as a kid. Classic 90's cheesy comedy with the Sheen kids.

Just finished the second trip through the second episode as my wife caught up. Public lying and fanaticism are so timely!

IMHO cheating and corruption still buries the lead, right next to his worst sins*. There are parts of that I was straight up weeping the first time through. Weirdly strong story of a pretty horrible narcissist who also made the world much better.

Yea, I haven't followed cycling or thought about Lance for some time, but watching that brought up a bunch of stuff. Never raced, but spent a lot of time on a road bike and toured a bit when I was younger, and my sister battled cancer in the late 90's, so when Lance became a phenom it was pretty inspirational stuff. I can still get pumped watching race/highlight vids from his heyday. Complicated - lotta good, lotta bad.

With hindsight it is interesting to browse through these old threads...

So watching Your Honor I can’t help but feeling like Bryan Cranston is playing a variation of Walter White with his lying and manipulation. It’s a great show and story however and Cranston is great in the role.

    Netflix: instaView rec's

Watched Beverly Hills Cop 4, Axel F with my 19 year old. A surreal experience as I was her age when I saw the first one 40 effing years ago when I was in college.

All the same ingredients were in the movie, just not as fresh and a little wilted. And it was a little hard to get past, why the fuck aren’t these guys 10 years into retirement already?!

Overall, decent plot and pacing. Murphy was decent but lacking but lacking the jocularity. His old partners all looked old af. I wish they had done something new w Serge too as his bit seemed the most stale and tired and kind of embarrassing

Worth a watch and a trip down memory lane, but a little bittersweet too to see age taking its toll

I thought Axel F was a movie that didn’t need to be made, an Eddie Murphy vanity project. It was stale and not worth finishing

Generally agree. I think a creative script update could be interesting. It was not that

It was watchable I guess but not great. Very cheesy. Girl who plays Foley’s daughter is a smoke show so enjoyed watching.

You guys spend so much time finding reasons to hate shit. I do not get it. Axel F was super fun and nostalgic. It was everything it needed to be and nothing it didn’t. Didn’t blow my mind, but it was fun and stupid just like 80s movies were supposed to be.
    focus.

Exactly. Are you looking for a cinematic masterpiece? The first two were groundbreaking. Tough to do that again when your stars are all old AF.

It wasn’t even funny. Why make it? Just rewatch the original

Let's hope the Back to the Future remake won't be as bad as Beverly Hills 4.

DAS LEHRERZIMMER aka THE TEACHERS’ LOUNGE
This taut little German film is fantastically paced, makes great use of music to create tension, and is teeming with relevant socio/political elements, all of which make for an intense and introspective watch.
All in all, it’s a quietly fervent little thrillerama.
