Some good match ups in the euros now that we’re out of group stage. I think Switzerland-Italy could be sneaky close and then that winner will bring a competitive match against England.

Spain still seems like the favorite but I think Germany or France could win it.

I was pretty stoked to see Venezuela upset Mexico. The Venezuelan goalkeeper had a great night. Argentina is probably the favorite but they let Chile hang in for way too long. USA needs the win against Panama to ensure they advance, should a tough match!

Man did Jamaica get hosed yesterday. Not sure how a chicken wing elbow shot results in a PK on them, but a blatant arm up where it doesn't belong, well before the strike doesn't get them the same result.

So the US keeper gets hammered in the air and there’s no card and then Weah gets a red card for that???

"That" gets you a red card every single time. Especially in the time of VAR.

    So stupid.

Well, Peru’s Lopez didn’t get sent off for his head butt against Canada, so not every obvious red card is being called.

    Stupid play, no question.

How do you end up with 4 minutes extra time? They spent at least 10 just on VAR.

That was a giant shitshow that we should not have lost if but for a selfish red card before the 20th minute.

Lopez should have been. Without a doubt. Worst decision since the hand of god.

Did Weah think he was gonna get that lucky?

    Berhalter has to go.
Uruguay is going to gut us like a fish, but they are also likely to win the Copa.

we need a new start before the WC.

Also think Austria has the draw, the team, and the coach to win the Euro.

The team didn’t play chippy aggressive ball and we just aren’t good enough to beat teams that are good with the precision pass elegant game the top teams play

I have a hard time blaming Berhalter for the shitiness of US Soccer in general. It starts at a young age.
US Rugby is in a similar, but much much shittier situation.
We don't value these sports, and our best athletes cannot make the $$ they can playing Football, Basketball, or Baseball.
I am not sure how that is on one (or multiple) coach(es).

Netherlands coach actually commented after our World Cup game that we never adjusted to their tactics.

Weah is allowed to be an idiot and get a stupid red card. And by he way he hit him twice and only got carded for the second one.

    Super questionable lineup choices.

    Questionable tactics.

    Lack of team discipline.

Gave up in the last 20 minutes of the 1-5 friendly. (Or whatever the score ended up being)

No one world hire the coach for any of the top 100 clubs jobs in the world.

I’d say the coach is an issue.

Ok, fair enough, but history says it may not be just a coaching issue.

Anyone want to go in on a TRG Group buy?

I love this quote. Never thought of it that way. It actually makes me respect Alexi a little tiny bit.
He is representing an entire generation.

As a pro he was disliked by the older sprot-writer generation a bit because of his looks but mainly because that generation really really hated soccer. He looked a bit different playing an "uncool" sport. He represented "us" HE WASNT GONNA CUT HIS HAIR AND SELLOUT TO SHILL FOR PEPSI!

Today he's a corporate troll who sprews out uninformed hawt takes for money and attention. At 1st he just did it for the cash, but today he actually believes he's the smartest person in the room.

As a GenXer no one perfectly escapsulates the arc of our entire generation like Lalas.

I’d say that the US does value youth soccer based on the money poured into it, it’s just wildly misspent, and the structure of the misspending is the problem. “Good enough to play with parents that will pay” travel soccer is not a winning culture

They’re going to go out to Slovakia... So disappointing.

On a much better note, Canada are through to the knockouts at the Copa! I’m still adjusting to the idea that Canada are 1/2 decent at soccer, and are able bring on a substitute who was born and raised in Toronto , but now plays for Inter Milan.
