    NHL 2023 Season

Not the outcome I was hoping for but was a good (close) game. Felt like Edmonton never really found their game tonight.

Hate to say it but Oilers got goalied. That second goal was kind of soft IMO. No screen low glove from the top of the circle.. gotta have that.

Oh well. Congrats to Florida. Cool to see them win their first cup at home.

I really do not agree with Edmonton leaving their best players out there almost the entire third period. It's fucking hockey, at some point fresh legs are more important than gassed players, no matter how talented.

Yeah they were fucking gassed. Good for bobrovsky. He deserves that. Glad we got a game seven.

good game 7. oilers fought until the end to tie it; credit to florida to hold them off.

nhl remains the best playoffs hands down.

Yeah, hindsight 20/20, but seemed like a bad strategy, which ended up a bad strategy.

Bob played a hell of a game. He found his center again. Same with

Second goal was on Kulak, but really on Cece for his line mate not trusting him because of well all year.

The ice was shit, but both teams played on the shit ice and FL did better.

Glad it was a mostly clean game and didn’t end up greasy.

Agreed on the gassed players. Knobs abandoned the depth he had cultivated all year. Hard to play the speed game, when the tanks are empty. Davo let the pressure get to him and he tried to do too much. Same with Drai who was hurt and Nuge who was sick.

Panther forecheck came back and was effective. Wish Oil had found a way to get a bit more physical.

Oil need better D Men. The forwards are finally playing D, and the D were better than earlier this year, but still not enough. Honestly, just don’t think Nurse, Cece, and Kulak have the IQ.

Hope the doubts on Skinner are put to bed. One hell of a sophomore year.

It’s been a hell of a show the last few months all around.

Let’s see what the offseason brings. As an Oiler fan, silver lining is that this is not 2006 and the team won’t be blown up.

    Florida won the game.

...because when they roll the lines and don't run their big guns, and then lose, we all bitch and complain that the best players are sitting on the bench and "there is no game 8, you need to run your stars in to the ground."

Is a tired McDavid still better than anyone else on the bench? I say yes.

What's really bothering me is WHY WAIT SO LONG TO PULL THE GOALIE???

Good question on the goalie pull. Seemed to be an opportunity at 2:30sh whe. They had the puck and big guns out.

Disappointing. Draisaitl being injured and not the partner McDavid needed was a ripper. Cats played GOOD hockey and deserved to win. Oilers barely showed up.

IIRC they were getting good shots and pressure at around the 2:30 mark so maybe they figured why take the chance of pulling the goalie. They damn near scored two or three times. Puck just didn't bounce their way.

Agreed. Especially considering they were getting decent offense from the other lines much of the series, at the same time that Drai was injured and McDavid was getting suffocated.

Glad the Oilers made a run at it though. I thought it was over after game 3.

Would have been nice to be able to call Tkachuck, Tka-Choke. But there are a bunch of Panthers players I was stoked to see win it. And the name Evan will finally make it onto the cup : )

Reports are McDavid likely to need abdominal surgery, Draisaitl played through broken ribs & finger.

Yeah, this confirming the speculation that was widespread on Reddit. Hopefully both can heal quickly. Also, hope the surgery doesn’t interfere with Davo’s wedding. That sucks.

Yeah, big weekend for Utah with drafting Jarome Iginla's kid and acquiring Mikhail Sergachev and John Marino. I'm liking what I'm seeing thus far from their front office.

Maybe the new city gets to start the new thread this year?

Also, speaking of the cup. Did you know the rangers once lit it on fire when they burned the deed to MSG after paying off the mortgage? They then urinated on it to put it out. There has truly been some crazy shit happen to that thing.
