Singlecross' video: occurs to me that maybe it really is a safety bar considering how frequently we have a safety meeting on the chair. Hmmmmm...

Any mags buying Subby couch chairs?
And can store for a few months?
I should buy one. It’s where I met my bride.
So many memories. Decades before her.
    Gotta figure out delivery. Later.

Starting bid for every chair is $1200. :ffs:

Every chair has a bid so looks like the answer is yes, they will sell all of them.
If I remember correctly, Snow King sold a bunch of the chairs from the summit lift for $1500 a few years ago. The eagles rest chairs were $500 when they sold those about 10 years ago. Will be interesting to see where these end up, already a couple over $2k.

How many Sublette chairs were there/are for sale?

Not bothering to make an auction account.

eta cause I keep thinkin it: This whole chair auction deal just strikes me as yet another tone deaf move from the vill. Online auction so someone from 2000mi away can bring back a piece of Wyoming with no leg work? Wtf. IIRC when some of the old Targhee chairs were sold you had to show up in person to buy one. Would it really have been that difficult for the vill to do the same thing, or at least set aside X number of chairs to be sold that way? Guess if you want em gone as quick as possible selling online is the way to go. Have no doubt a lot of chairs will still be acquired by those within say a 60 mile radius, but the online thing just seems so lame.

JFC "online" didn't exist in the old days!
Every chair auction in recent years at any mom/pop or corporate resort has been online, the buyer has to make arrangements to accept/ship the chair to their location. This is just how it's done. It's not personal, it's business. Get used to it or sit back down in your rocking chair.

I looked closer at the auction and only saw a name or two that I recognized. Our Mag Swerve is in on one methinks.

It seems like the village has someone working there now that insists on scraping up any nickel they see lying around. I am surprised they started all at $1200. But not really.

Word on the street is that the 2 new owners kinda want to steer the resort a little away from the recent planning and bringing back some of the old JH vibe.

I have yet to see the first thing happen that isn't somehow profit driven. Those 2 new guys have their backs up against the wall trying to ratchet down the money grubbing.

I'm laughing at Jack's calling EoB old. He's a youngern comparatively.

And I think his point was that so many posers try to buy into the Jackson mystique and when a chance to have some of it comes up, JHMR designed the process to be less local friendly. Dilution of the vibe is frowned upon here.

Can you imagine what a giant pain in the ass shipping one of those would be? Gotta be 300+ lbs. I doubt they have to ship too many.

Some of you are underestimating the number of people that enough money to buy 25 of these chairs and give them away as trinkets at their next cocktail party. I wanted to buy one of the flying couch chairs from when Snowbasin upgraded a lift, but I learned pretty quickly at auction opening that my memories would have to live in my head.

Didn’t JHMR immediately sell out a handful (+/-) of houses at $30m+ a piece not long ago? You guys still think they give a flying fuck about appeasing the locals? I too would love to grab a Sublette chair (to replace my living room couch maybe?), but that dream is right up there along with owning anything anywhere close to JH. Though maybe I’m too defeatist…. just happy that the Hostel is still a thing for now.

    No, we're not.
The uber wealthy don't buy fucking 36 year old beater lift chairs. They buy 24 piece teak deck chairs for some propmanager fuck to put out in the spring and put back in the fall.

No, it's most likely the new upper middle class here. Covid locals and recent WFH pukes spending waaay too much fucking dough on stupid shit just to feel local. But they'll tell ya they did it so they could donate to SAR. Or whatever reason makes them feel good about the changes they've brought to town, and insisted the locals need to get up to speed with.

I'm gonna say no to that. Wtf are you referring to?

    JHMR cares about the locals.

    Nobody said that.

    Fucking ever.

JHMR still own some commercial properties that could be developed, but to my knowledge, they don’t own any residential properties out there.

They're already running into some pushback on their Stilson plans. Too much development in a known heavy moose zone.

Can we curate this into some type of bumper sticker or t shirt? This basically distills what is happening in all mountains towns. I've always hated the term however. Around here is has always come with some type of superiority entitlement complex.

    "Townie's Not Locals....You Can't Buy This"

The only think more sad than the trying to fit in bespoke Carhartt crowd is the the fart sniffing coat tails turncoats making friends with the Johnny Come Latelys to try and get a piece of their cheese.
