Oh and here’s the end of the season reminder that the LA Lakers have 12 banners (one in the bubble). Stop padding your championships with the MN wins.

^^^ Also, 2 Minneapolis wins came in an all-White NBA.

Can’t get enough of Pritch’s half-court heave, Mike Breen nailed the call.
Really easy and fun team to get behind. #18!

Fuck, I missed the Pritchard heave. I had to do a bunch of work so I missed a lot of the game, even with it on in the background.

The whole banner counting thing is a little silly anyway. The Celtics won a bunch when there were only 8 teams in the league. Post merger (1976) wins count for a lot more IMO.

I do agree wins in a completely different area don’t really count. Like the Philly Warriors for example.

But just remember - the Lakers are the in season tourney champs! [emoji23]

I know the MVP goes to the big names with the big stats but D White was the MVP of this team.

That Faceplant to the floor was brutal looking. Can’t believe he lost half a tooth, didn’t even take a second to regroup, got up and nailed a 3 pointer on the next play.

4 seconds of glory that put the seal on the first half and gave the feeling that securing the championship was inevitable.

That man has grit. Always hustling. He's a machine.

My son accused me of liking role players and not stars. If that's wrong, I don't want to be right.

Yeah, White is super likeable. His block at the rim was sick! His D is great and then he drains 3's. Huge part of their success.

It definitely impacts two of my teams. I don’t care what the (baseball) Giants did in NY. Ringless until 2010 as far as I was concerned.

Btw is there a dumber argument than saying a team like the Celtics had an easy road as some kind of knock against them? Yeah no shit, they were the 1 seed and that’s the whole point. Sure some opponents had injuries but you can also point out they didn’t have to grind on their players as hard before the playoffs because they’d built such a big lead in their conference. Can only play who is in front of you.

Congrats Celts fans. They were the best team all year and deserved it. Well done.

Celtics were impressive. That was one of the most well rounded teams I've seen.

Hat tip Celtics fans. Wonder which one of you will start the next thread.

Now, on to NBA contract silly season and trying to read the tea leaves of the social media posts of 25 year old multimillionaires.

How many times did he get a pass with the shot clock running out and then calmly drained a 3? More than anything else (Pritchard's shot included) that broke the Mavs.

D White's shot blocking all season needs an award. He really is my second favorite Celtic. Big Al will always top the list. Pritchard is number 3.

Monty Williams fired. Dude is making out like a bandit, leaves Phoenix being owed $21 million and now leaves Detroit with $65 million remaining on his contract. Must be nice

The funny part is now Detroit is going to have to massively overpay another coach...

I find that line of thinking perplexing as well. This Celtics team was historically great in pretty much every advanced metric. I just have to chuckle when people try to knock them for having to easy a time. That is what happens when you are that much better at something than everyone else.

I get people hate Boston teams because we have a good run, but even Tom Brady didn't get this knock against him. Can't seem to really place my finger on why this Celtics team is getting the business for it, but they got the banner, and people remember that far longer than say an injury to some guy on the Pacers.

Yeah, and for the same reason I don't discount Toronto's Championship in 2019 even though I'm confident if KD / Klay had stayed healthy the Warriors would have won. It was their 5th straight Finals meaning they played almost an entire extra season during that stretch, so injuries were bound to happen eventually. Mike Malone mentioned that he felt like this Denver team ran out of gas and that's why repeating is so difficult. It's just how it goes.
