    Last year I kept seeing someone in the Valley driving a RR Cullinan. I was like, damn, that's fucking weak flex. You got a $400K car and you could only afford Alta, WY?

    Holy schnikies, I had to google that one. It's just so absurd to even see that stuff.

    I'm also seeing one of those horrendous Tesla Cybertrucks motor around the valley. Sooooooooooooooo fucking ugly.

    Looks like JHMR built another sky bridge thing too.

    Who the fuck is selling these sky bridges.
    You can stand on the dirt and see the same shit. Without having a metal human made shitty platform.

    Maybe it will be a sick launch once it's filled up to the rail with snow.

    Damn, that thing appears to be over in the far drift area. I'da thunk that was off limits as out of permit boundary. Fwiw, that's gonna be a hell sweet smoke spot...

    Whatevs, they've done stupid shit for years although they seemed to have run out of existing issues to fuck up and are looking/finding new really dumb shit.

    I've been up the tram a few times this summer and altho peeps walk out on that skywalk, it's never many and only for a minute or two.

    Feels downright awkward as it moves an inch, it's windy as fuckall right there and the view is the same and still better 30' away on the summit.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Sublette got pulled yesterday fully with the fancy ass Blackhawk Helo. From a lift ops underboss: new alignment is gonna kind of cross the ridgeline at the Alta zone somewhere.
    Base will be more uphill lookers right, summit will be more left. So crossing from right to left over maybe Alta 1.
    Talking shite to the gapers and their oversloping schoolers will be even more prolific as they'll be closer to beneath yas.
    Not gonna sell the entire lift.
    Tried to sell it to Kelly canyon, (not enough dough), and Pine creek. No takers. Likely gonna sell the chairs off.
    We'll see if they charge a rape price or a Let's spread the Sublette love throughout this valley price.
    It's all sitting out in the front field of the Snake River ranch, bottom station bubble sitting there, looking ancient now.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    WyDot says they're looking at a short term workaround to have the pass open in a few weeks. Fingers crossed, yes?
    I see there's a stop set up at the summit. It'd be cool if the road remained open from Wilson to the summit during repairs.

    Having some unplanned off season with a natural disaster moment is some wishful thinking but for some of us, non commuters, a summer of no Teton pass has some real appeal.
    Also, the crazy lines at the west Jelly entrance has indeed altered my MT roadtrip plans.
    Yesterday at 10:30 the line was backed up to the light in town. Fuck that and WHY can't the fucking NPS have a designated entry lane for passholders and those who've already bought an entry at another gate?

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Thank you to Kokomas who made it known that locals were unhappy with the rationale for hacking through the Alta chutes. Almost all of the requests were approved but they dropped that one. I'd posit that his point was taken directly, considered, and agreed upon.
    Solid work. We're gonna pick a line in there and call it Koko's. Or a rock that didn't get blasted. A Biggun.
    The permit boundary covers the upper mountain all the way to Cody peak.
    But wtf Forest service. Allowing stupid viewing platforms is stupidity.
    It was nice when the tram towers went from orange to gray. Blend in.
    Now we have metal unneeded platforms. That serve no real purpose.
    Although the idea of sending this new one sounds good. Build a kicker. And send it.
    It’s out the gate. So what can patrol do to stop you.
    I’m expecting Kai to send a backflip this winter for the next trg film.
    From reading the forest permit applications a few years ago.
    They have the bowl. But not rock springs or green river.
    It dates way back. Might even be to 1966
    I've never heard of a single person getting a look at the FS documents and you can be sure that maaany peeps have wanted a read of that. And an application is by definition not a final decision.
    Not saying you didn't but I'd be surprised and further interested in reading those. Also, I'd bet a lot that the originals and the existing situation are no longer the same.
    Having Pepi's camp in Cody would lean me towards maybe you're right but that's been 40+ years ago and lots has been adjusted.
    There’s a thread somewhere in here where I posted the link.
    It was around the time of the Teton lift.
    All FS approval is public and has hearings. And in the modern day they post web links.
    The blue area here was them trying to extend to rock springs. It wasn’t approved.
    Other than the possibility of a Cody bowl lift for spring race training. At the time of the Teton lift they also mentioned sublette. Which is happening now. And also lower sublette which I like to distribute the tourists on to other groomers.
    And also an overpass on the traverse from Casper to AV so they can host World Cup races.
    That would be weird skiing through a tunnel.
    RIP to the couch. It makes no sense to make it high speed. Rarely a full lift maze.
    EOB - nice work on Jackson Peak. Yeah it can be a bitch to get out if you don't find the old roads.
    How was the road to the Goodwin Lake trailhead?
    How far up did they get with that huge rock crusher and grader? Was it still deep nasty ruts after the road fork to Sheep Creek?
    Well that certainly shows Cody proper as being within Special Use Permit boundaries but I'm pretty sure the FS considers the Far drift and beyond, kinda their domain.
    When requested to put up signs about the danger out in the field above Cakewalk and Zero G, they said no, it's a signless area.
    It may be within the boundary but I don't think it's open for any major development. I did see that they requested putting in a rope tow again but only for spring skiing.
    Further pussification of the vill, that.
    I feel like Mickey is driving all of this make-a-buck shit.
    Ha, man you got that right.
    Used to be JP was a spring ritual hanging at the ski cabin. Not so many anymore.
    Road wasn’t too bad, it appeared they had done some work up to the second Y where FR 30444 splits off to the right and you continue straight. Definitely rutted beyond that point, but despite a slow go a Stock F150 and Taco made it no problem. I think a lower clearance vehicle could make it with some delicate driving.
    Whole lot of assumptions by someone who isn’t on site. He has some valid points but unless I failed to catch it he doesn’t mention that the road opening is a temporary fix and a long term solution has not been determined and will be based on the geo tech findings. Typical YouTube blowhard. Not saying WyDot didn’t jack this up in many ways I would take what he is saying with a very large grain of salt.
    Well, that guy probably doesn’t have any fucking idea what the actual long term plan is, nor how vital it is to enact a temporary solution ASAFP.
    Couldn’t agree more with this take. I loved the part where he spitballs a bridge cutting out that entire section of roadway, shows how much he knows about the area.
    He got my clicks. Full geo engineering nerd.
    Without his video. I was scratching my head as an armchair dentist. Wondering why if the road was moved in to the curve that wouldn’t also slide.
    Yeah. The bridge part was lame. It’s a switchback decrease elevation. You don’t just put a bridge that’s over fifteen degrees.
