I don't knoww how a Solitude season pass (non-IKON) makes sense

Write up boa or kestrel, depending upon the mood and energy
I was using Ikon current list price, but even at 1149 + 500 park it's still more expensive than Alta or Bird if you want to ski Solitude every day and drive your car. IMO they should offer a Solitude only that includes parking w/ optional Ikon pass add on. Then solitude only skiers would get a slightly better deal, and I think Solitude would take home more revenue for those passes instead of having to whack up pass revenue with other Alterra resorts. Disclaimer - I don't know shit about this stuff, I'm just a skier who likes to throw out uneducated opinions.

Anyway, enough whining. Skiing is awesome in general, but skiing in the Wasatch is another level and we're some lucky bastards. Now that parking details are out I can look forward to next year (I stress about that stuff more than I should). I think I'm going bird + ikon for the first time next season; fairly psyched about exploring Snowbird.

The IFSC speed events are tomorrow and spectator tickets are free. I'm hoping to be there with the toddler if anyone else has change.

A photo from today. I like to follow the glide progression in Broads. Might learn something someday.

Yeah, I bet vertigo is in full effect on Reg. right now. I am stoked to get a ski week in the middle of May!

Was sticky at 11. Got MUCH better around 12:15 as the cold front moved thru. Looking forward to the rest of this week at the Bird!

Caught 2 high baldys yesterday including being on the tram for the rope drop, best may runs of my life easily. Hadn't skied Snowbird in anything but bad mid winter snow or late May in a few years...so fun!

Hoping to be able to make it up again tomorrow, probably not though

BobMc, is that long haired yellow coat you or a friend? I saw that dude skiing solo either Friday or yesterday, forget which one.

It’s my oldest son, he was there yesterday and Friday. He’s up there quite a bit. Holler at him if you see him, he’s always looking for people to ski with.

Wicked conditions this morning. Heavily wind affected up high, chips looked like arrakis. Lower mountain was really nice. Wind looks to have lift ops and avalanche work very snarled. Wifes schedule chose today for me but i think tomorrow should be better. Wed morning looks like the winner possibly, depends on how much snow falls tuesday pm though.

What is the best way to shop for hotels at snowbird? The lodging site of snowbird website blows and will not let you price the rooms. Got the family the mountain collective and looking to price on where to stay in the canyon for spring break 2025.

Solitude was skiing really well today. Snow was super light and forgiving for the most part. Definitely had to dodge a few things here and there and watch out for deep ruts at the bottom. Found some knee deep stuff thru lower skier right gates off Powderhorn which was siiiiick.

Rumor is only one lift opened at the Bird. If true, it will be amazing whenever they open new stuff.

UTA Board Meeting at 9:00 AM tomorrow, 669 West 200 South.

    UTA Funding (from Wikipedia):
Local option sales tax – 70.9 percent
    Federal funding – 13.1 percent
    Fares – 11.2 percent
    Investments – 3.1 percent
    Advertising – 1.3 percent
    Other – .3 percent

Does this mean they are 71% accountable to the state, or largely accountable to no one? It feels like they are not accountable to anyone.
