I was hoping I’d someday snag my buddies OG Stormrider DPs but i think he’s gonna get buried w them at this point.
What ski is closest to the legendary Stormrider DP? To me they were far superior to the Schmidt model back then

Post pics. I'm interested in 186 SR88

Stormrider owners: have you skied Dynastar Mpro or Mfree? How do those feel in comparison to?
Well my stormrider story never really got off the launchpad. I skied them a few days last spring at winter park and then barely skied them at all this season at telluride due to trying to baby them thru the low tide conditions and once it got semi decent I realized both skis had cracked sidewalls underfoot with no impact damage.
Stockli eventually warrantied them and in their place I got some montero ARs since the 105 stormrider no longer existed and I figured a replacement narrower stormrider would end up with the same fate.
The stormriders were fun but definitely felt like they had a speed limit and were at home making lots of precise turns. A skiers ski for sure and very responsive to skier input, but definitely not for wailing thru chop at mach looney.
The monteros are excellent on very firm snow but get a bit twitchy once things even think of getting soft. Very good for an out west 'worst day of the year' ski
Incoming PM, but also posting here in case there's other interest.
I have a pair of DP Pros (184? 186? Right around there...) with pivots mounted for ~315mm. I got them cheap a couple of seasons ago, and they're fun but realistically I don't use them more than a couple of times a season. Happy for them to go to someone who'll use them more. Excellent condition except for swiss cheese mount holes.
Does anyone have time on stormrider lights? I am thinking of picking up a pair and mounting them with G3 IONs. Powder7 has a killer deal right now.

These things still fuck. Twenty years later and they're still the most fun for spring smooshings.
I recognize those!

Just scored a pair of SR88s - 22/23 model year with warden demos - from our local hills demo fleet. Couldn’t have had more than a couple of days on them. And $400 is a reasonable price.
Fuckin perfect ski for the freeze-thaw cycle. Holds an edge on really firm, and busts thru crud.
Would post pics but…
Update - pics bigger than 1mb now download

Anyone have any time on the current (or recent) 88 or 95?
Looking for a freeride-oriented inbounds ski that doesn’t hurt my ears after owning a tuning-fork of a Mantra102.
Interested in HL 85 & 95, but very intrigued by the tighter sidecut of the Stormriders and their famous dampness.
I'd love a magic-carpet ride, like a wet blanket, with a sub 20r that doesn't make me think.
You know, something I can arc g-forces on while drinking coffee and sitting on the couch.

88 is sweet
You said freeride oriented, HL95. Super damp, any turn shape, rails or releases easily. Put them on edge sip coffee and eat a scone. They are damn near as damp as my R99 COMPS. Like 98% as damp. Crazy for no metal.

If ski companies didn't make new skis every year I wouldn't have to get new skis every year.

Any interest in a 188 Scot Schmidt Pro from '06? The 89 waist version, later became the XXXL. I just am not skiing them, the '04 is better for me. They're in immaculate shape, one mount for pivots @325mm. PM me, It'll be worth it.
Sweet skis! I had 178s and 190s back in c. 2012-2017. Do yourself a favor and swap out those flexi too-tall frame bindings.
Also, the polyimide inserts in the tail are asymmetric, switching feet changes how forgiving the tail is by changing the tail's torsional stiffness.
I've got the Stormrider Pro 115 in 195cm. Circa 2016 or so. Sick travel skis with a Duke binder to get out of trouble if needed. Don't understand why the brand went away from this type of ski.
The whole sport went away from that type of ski.
Thank goodness that there are still some of us who are still committed
