    To add:

I checked Cottonwoods Canyon Traffic almost daily this past season to recalibrate my traffic/parking expectations for both canyons. There was never a red snake in BCC, and I say it's clear that the parking reservations worked.

Like someone else said much earlier in this thread, I hate to say it, but Snowbird needs to implement parking reservations. BCC shows that it eliminated huge traffic congestion.

Broken record comment time: If buses came reliably every 15 minutes (or even more praise be to jesus) I would ride the bus every day

This is an extremely helpful comment. Thank you! I ski with my 4 & 5 y/o boys 2-3 times a week and have always avoided the bus thinking it would be too much hassle with little ones. However, waking them up early enough to get ready and be up at the mtn by 8am comes with its own challenges. They'll be in some kind of a ski program (thinking snowbird adventure program since they're not quite old enough for the race team, if anyone has feedback on that?), so we'll have to do the early mornings at least one day a week.

Factive the main downside with a Bird pass is that it doesn't come with any parking predictability. Because parking has become so scarce, without some mechanism to allow the pass holder to reliably secure parking, it is very hard to get the value out of the pass that you bought. So places like Brighton and Alta and Solitude(?) have now leap frogged Snowbird on a full package, because with the parking benefits that come with the pass you are reasonably assured that you will get to use the pass and enjoy the benefits.

Also, b/c Snowbird is the last 'first come first serve' parking in the canyons it has become what Brighton was the last few years - the place everyone from in town or out of town races to to get a parking place and ski because they don't have a reservation anywhere else. That makes it even more of a shit show imho.

Because demand at Snowbird is so high, I don't see this changing anytime soon.

Yup, I was a Bird guy this year, and while I never got boxed out of parking, it was stressful and silly, especially on any day it snowed. I'll most likely be an Alta guy next year. If Snowbird cleaned up their mess with parking reervations the whole canyon would be nicer. Look at BCC last year compared to this year.

This all coming from a guy who despises the word "reservation"

I was an early opponent of Alta’s reservation system, but it ended up being a significant upgrade to first come first serve. Pretty much every non powder Saturday I’d drive by a completely full Snowbird at around 9:30 and find a half empty lot at Alta. I have to get there early on Sunday’s for the kids’ teams, but it is nice to sleep in and not stress about parking on Saturdays.

    Since we're on the subject:

Anyone have any experience with the BCC buses this past season given the parking reservations? Did getting on a bus get worse, since people should be getting pushed to buses if they can't get a parking res?

At this point Snowbird is the one house in the otherwise well-kept neighborhood with cars in the yard on blocks and chained up dogs that bark all day.

same as it ever was, just different reasons....

Can someone let me know when the whole "Frank" thing started @ Alta? did closing day there a lot of years and there were always good times, costumes, silliness, tailgating & a gathering around the non functional bong at the top of Highboy but now the Frank thing is everywhere it seems.

Maybe 2010? You’d have to ask Michael Trioli or Dustin Baldwin, both of Deep Powder House fame.

Lonestar probably knows the answer to this question too.

I always referred to it as the Highboy party. This is the first year that I constantly hear it being called "The Frank"

Highboy for me but easier for some of my beater friends to get more excited by Frank. Look for the neon explosivs and denim jacket sunday.

The younger crew all call it Frank. I think that’s cool. They care about it and that keeps the tradition and the myth strong.

I have family that will be there but I didn’t make it out. Bummer. PBR and backflip for me!

Fun ripping around DV the last couple of days. No one around Friday but a lot more people today. Such a different vibe there this weekend than mid season. My guess is that it was because it was only locals and no rush for conditions.

Solitude has reservations but you have to pay. You could get a season parking pass last year, but they haven't announced anything for 24-25, which is not super cool considering pass prices just went up. They're being intentionally shady about it too, deleting any comments on their instagram asking about parking details. That said, reservations worked so well. I didn't wait at the mouth more than 1 light cycle all season, which was fantastic.

Solitude, like most other places, charges a premium for weekend parking pass. For the past 2-3 years, I have purchased a mid-week seasons parking pass there for $100. I don't expect things to change.

Not really like its neighbors. Alta and Brighton parking is included with your pass. Bird you can park for the cost of stress.

So why not just announce the parking details?
