Dyson -overpriced and battery life sucks. Many buy aftermarket battery adapters to use their Dewalt to Milwaukee batteries on them.

We have an LG Cordzero. Battery can do our 1700sf home three times over… comes with an extra battery, extra washable filters, etc…

Bump, what's the word on the street for cordless stick vacuums?

I know, I know, they probably aren't great compared to a true canister vacuum, but our apartment is so tight on space we don't have room for one of those. Is it worth spending a couple hundred bucks on something from one of the bigger names like Dyson, Bissell, Hoover, etc?

I bought an iwolly cordless off amazon. I am quite please with it FWIW. I live in a small place it suits me fine. It has a power head, a few attachments and an LED light in front. Just keep it charged on the wall and use it as reqired. you are not goig to do a massive house over and over on a single charge but it will do the job for a good price.
Another good thing is that it extends flat so you can vacumm right under the bed and couch. My GF has a dyson and quite honestly, I find mine to be just as good.

I should also have clarified that this will be a registry item, if over $300 can set it up as a group buy.

Any of you guys that have ever been along for the journey of trying to put together a *sensible* registry can maybe feel my pain.

Sticks are great for hard floors

I don't know what kind of vacuum you've been using but the newer vacuums make emptying them a trivial matter, although I haven't used any of the stick vacuums.

Current vacuum is a Shark Navigator. Idk how old it is but it’s kind of beat. And yea, that’s part of the reason I don’t want to be emptying it more than once per session. It’s a pain in the ass and not something I even want to be doing inside.

I'm a Dyson fan. Yeah, lots of plastic, but both of ours have held up extremely well. Our big Dyson is easily 10 years old, every year or two I take it apart and clean everything, it still works like new. My mother in law has the same one, also like 10 years old, also still works great. We have a Dyson stick in the kitchen that really is quite good on all the floors upstairs. Easy to empty, easy to use, effective. Yeah, battery kind of sucks, but Amazon delivered a replacement when it died. Continues to work well after many years. I've been impressed with the Dyson stuff.

Yep. I’d rather drag an upright than a central vac hose.
And the ones without power suck. But they don’t beat.

We’ve been a big fan of the Dyson stick vacuums. My wife wanted the latest and almost greatest but if it were me I would buy someone’s old one and put a kit on it for your dewalt etc battery.

Still a huge fan of my shark vertex. Cheaper (by half?) than Dyson, maybe 90% as good. They also sent me a new (upgraded) one for free when the first one developed a floppy hinge.

Good filtering and suction It bit the bullet finally (it was about 40yo) and I need a recommendation for a shop vac. I don’t want a big conventional one, something handheld, but the battery ones I am not sold on.

Where should I start?

The Milwaukee cordless got rave reviews in another thread.
For a small shop vac that would be hard to beat if you are already on the Milwaukee train. Nothing Milwaukee makes is a toy.

A big conventional one if you will be using it wet. The battery ones have small containers and some aren’t supposed to go wet….

If you don’t care about that, just go with whichever battery family you’re already in. I own the Makita and have used Milwaukee briefcase style - both work well.

If you are going to hook it up to a tool for dustless work, upgrade to a HEPA model. Otherwise don’t…
