Agreed. I was thinking I'd like to have the last car that rolls off the assembly line. It's had all the bugs worked out over the history and I'd imagine the workers would take a bit of extra time and care screwing things together since there's not another behind it?

That particular one above is destined for Audi's museum. So we can all visit and see what a mid-engined, naturally-aspirated V10 supercar capable of daily duty looked like.

Anyone have a good PPI in San Diego? My dad is looking at a nice set of wheels in La Mesa and needs eyes on it - he’s East Coast.
I have a ‘23 S4 as a loaner while my Allroad is getting its oil changed. While tooling around enjoying this fun car I looked in the Door pocket for my sunglasses and found not one but two different speeding tickets given to whoever had the car last. Lol.
Some guy named Yuri was having a lot of fun, followed by a lot of not fun in quick succession.

Who here has had PPF installed on their whip?
Any recommendations/advice on product, process or pricing that you wish you would have known before installing?

The installer is everything. Scope their work. Better yet, scope prior work to see how it held up. Product is less important but name-brand is a good bet for better support. Visit their shop. A clean shop reduces opportunity for dirt under the film. What is the prep process? What defects does the installer consider acceptable? What defects would warrant a redo? What support is offered if the film peels or bubbles? Are edges wrapped? Are any parts of the car removed for install? Are emblems wrapped? Are fog lights wrapped?
PPF is filled with clowns like much of the auto industry. The most popular shop is not necessarily the best shop. Vetting installers is no guarantee of success but it at least reduces the chance Homey D. ends up with your car.
Solid beta, thanks Maz. I've got an appointment to go see a shop that came up with the most recs on several websites, but as you point out any clown with a slick website can go around pumping his business up on the usual boards/sites. I'm most concerned about prep and execution, but you bring up a great point I hadn't considered in what warrants a redo?

Good areas to look to get an idea of install quality are around bumper radar sensors to see if the film is centered, and around bumper air openings to see if the film is symmetrical from side-to-side.
I went through this a few years ago. The shop I chose was recommended, had a slick website, and a sizeable portfolio of expensive cars. The install was a royal fuck up: film over top of rocker panels that were not even cleaned, jagged edges, stretch marks. I got my money back and peeled it off. That's why I say install is everything.
Meh, just plasti-dip it
