The 6 year old will be in ski school most of the time, so whether we start the day at Alta or the Bird will be somewhat based on her schedule. The boy is stoked for his return after his week long multiple country club days / interlodge adventures from last April . If anyone wants to make some turns / grab a deck beer, etc, give me a shout!

Question for the parents here, my dumb ass screwed up and didn't realize Alta is no longer just walk-in but went to online reservations for kids day ski school now. I can get any day i need at the Bird for my advanced beginner 6 yo daughter, but it looks like most of the midweek Alta days are not available online, only the weekend available. Wanted to get her some days over there, does anyone know if they have a waiting list or do walk ins, or am I just out of luck?
They do have some walkups but it is first come first serve, and if all of the reservations are taken up, it may be hard to get in. I texted my buddy who is a coach there and he said next week is scheduled to be very busy. I'd maybe give them a call and see if they can squeeze you in.

Are those maps of the traverse lines in Mineral Basin?

We went pretty far out in Devil's Castle yesterday and wandered into someone's engagement/video session. So if you're here, mazel tov. And the gully held a lot more than the two inches that fell the day before, so I hope you skied that. Wonder where you plan to get married. Friends of my son did it on top of the Grandes Montets.

Actually popped the question waist deep in Devils Castle back in ‘00. We ended up taking over the entire Rustler for a weekend the following August for the wedding….

There’s a human somewhere in there.

I’m gonna have to keep reminding myself how good today was while I sit in traffic for a few hours tonight.

Today was A+ over at Alta. Had to get the 6yo over to ski school so didn't get the early Collins action , but had near walk on lifts on Supreme most of the day. Made it over to the Collins side later still skiing great ,ran into alias_rice for a hot second but my 10 yo was out of gas by then and had to pick up the other kid from ski school. Awesome day w lots of stoke. And survived first day of being outnumbered by these two goofballs !

    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Tried to post this as a video, to no avail so had to screen shot and crop. Had a great morning skiing with an old buddy who now lives in Vermont. 2 turns later the whole field soft slab collapsed and ran through the trees on to the traverse. Instability noted skiing Alta’s favorite spot on the shortest shot of the bird side of Baldy, buddies gloves were swept away and the only casualty.

It ended up not being too bad. Left Wildcat lot at 4:45 and hit the north at 5:30. All things considered, I’ll take it.

Killer shots Tgapp. One of these days, I’ll have you teach me how to take a decent photo.

Yeah, that's pretty good. We rode the lift with a guy from Ohio who was asking for advice on when to leave to catch a 6:00 flight. I suggested 2:00-2:30. I'll forever wonder if he made it.

Major stoke document surge in here.

Sacrificed a pow morning to try out for btown volunteer patrol this afternoon. Dreading a summer of medical study if i make the cut but excited for what could be a very different kind of season.

Got a bonus mary chute lap in at 4. Sometimes bcc is just as good as lcc and sometimes it aint.

Great day. Everyone was heading out the t so we got three great freds laps before doing some thirds and a keyhole. Saw someone on some Marshall skis with a grom, and a different grom with BBI stickers on the helmet.

Honestly think that’s right - did this for a flight back to NYC a few weeks ago, made it down with so much extra time. Powder wasn’t quite this good though.

The point of the story was that sometime later they announced a mid-day canyon closure 2:00-3:30, which he may or may not have seen. If he was first in line at Gate C when it re-opened does he make his flight? Maybe.
