If you want free parking that’s not on the highway I’d be there before 830, maybe earlier.

actually that was some all time great conditions. apologies for the poor photography - that evening we had like 4" of heavier snow capped with 8-10" of light, NW flow magic cold smoke. maybe not the lightest snow in absolute objective terms, but the combo of heavy base that you could bounce off of and light snow that you were constantly popping and planing on and out of was unreal

ryan - fkn great pictures, thanks for sharing
tfw - always love learning more, thank you
    crank - looks absolutely sick

Special thanks to nbabucks for the great afternoon ripping around strawberry; no pics but I had a blast, and the snow wasn't bad either. worlds better than the 50mph upslope winds of yesterday.

Friend in town pulled a last minute audible. Anyone have an Alta parking reservation for tomorrow (Sunday) they aren’t going to use?

lol i was looking at that from the lift today, all three you?

we traversed under and I stopped and remarked that skiers left was pretty big, middle took some speed to clear those rocks and right was boney.

Nice airs! Make sure to stay healthy before your trip. Years ago Sage told me before he was heading to AK to film “got to watch myself you only have so much pixie dust”

That's an awesome Sage quote. That's definitely at top of my mind now. When I was skiing yesterday nothing had been booked yet.

Found corn this morning at about 8am, east facing, 6500 to 8000 ish. Surprisingly, still some cold, dense pow on mid elevation north faces that stayed out of the wind.

Both those dudes came up to JH for the Town Downhill over the weekend.

Ligety came in second @ 47.73.
Nyman came in fifth @ 48.72

First 6 finishers were ex Pro/WC level racers...except the local kid who finished third overall.
Mattias Wilson, son of Capt. Benny Wilson, in bib 25 won the Junior class and put down a 48.06.

Hey all, heading back to your neck of the woods hopefully getting in Sat AM and staying for the week. Staying up at the Cliff , but will be flying solo with my 10 and 6 year old as the wife's current travails are unfortunately documented in the Gimp Central ACL thread. The 6 year old will be in ski school most of the time, so whether we start the day at Alta or the Bird will be somewhat based on her schedule. The boy is stoked for his return after his week long multiple country club days / interlodge adventures from last April . If anyone wants to make some turns / grab a deck beer, etc, give me a shout!

Question for the parents here, my dumb ass screwed up and didn't realize Alta is no longer just walk-in but went to online reservations for kids day ski school now. I can get any day i need at the Bird for my advanced beginner 6 yo daughter, but it looks like most of the midweek Alta days are not available online, only the weekend available. Wanted to get her some days over there, does anyone know if they have a waiting list or do walk ins, or am I just out of luck?

Have a great week! You should be in luck as this is my week to be up in Canada, and like last year, usually when I’m away the goods pile up in LCC!
