I thought this was the free Nissan thread?

I did consider buying a 370Z at one time, then I drove one. Ridiculously loud inside - like zero sound insulation from road noise.

Missing tag or handmade "TAG APPLIED FOR", doing 90 weaving in and out of all kinds of traffic including school zones, billowing weed smoke out of a cracked shitty 2% tint job with at least 1 spare tire bald to the threads.

Welcome my friend, to Altima Country.

Back in college my roommate had been saving up money from random jobs and tutoring some rich guy’s kid and bought himself a black Altima as a reward (when I say black Altima I assume everyone knows exactly which one I’m talking about)

He used to drive from MA to Yale every once in a while (what with southern CT highways being the Altimas natural territory). Within half a semester he went from perfect driving record to about $400 worth of speeding tickets from CT state troopers

A few months ago I was dropping my kid at Newark airport. A black Nissan sedan pulls ahead into the dropoff. Back window partially missing, replaced with cardboard, and what looked like a few bullet holes in the rear quarter and trunk lid.

    From savagegeese Altima review:

"Mark, you and I both know there's nothing faster than a Nissan with expired tags

Obviously, the transmission aside, this engine is really impressive

If you're looking for some, uh, gusto when you're driving with no insurance running from the cops this is
this is the model for you"

Around here I've noticed Acura sedans are starting to become attractive to this group of Nissan enthusiasts.

Expired tags implies that it was ever legally registered to the driver, which is false.

Interesting sidenote, in VT they stopped issuing expiration stickers for license plates. They phased out the front plate sticker requirement a while back. Now they finally eliminated the sticker altogether. The only other people who will know it's expired is your garage when you want to renew your safety inspection and the cop who runs your tags.

Here they've slid to the other side of the Nissan family of vehicles, Infiniti. Usually a clapped out q50 with only slightly less body damage and even darker tint.

I've never understood it. It's like these drivers just want to advertise through their tint and through their insane driving that they're up to some sketchy shit in there.

It's the handwritten "TAG APPLIED FOR" that always kills me. In this state you can't "apply for a tag", you simply go and get one, and you can't get one if your insurer hasn't uploaded your car and coverage into the state's database which takes all of 30 seconds. These homemade plates just scream UNINSURED DRIVER, OUTTA MAH WAY!!!

VT Strong is the new front license plate.

They said they stopped using stickers on the front plate because people were splitting the pair of plates (and stickers) between two cars. That was before the (originally temporary) Vermont Strong authorization.

Montana does issue paper temp tags and then mail plates if you want a vanity tag. I think Maine does similarly.

So, has anyone here ever done the “build” thing I see on car makers’ web sites? Time frames? Did you get what you wanted? Did you get ripped off on the price? Were sales people all up your ass after you submitted it? What else? Up til now I’ve been able to find what I want on the lots.

I’m getting interested in a new SUV, but the models don’t seem to be readily available, especially in the trims I want. And fwiw, I’m looking out a little into the future at models that are just being released in 2024 - the new Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus GX 550. Others on the radar are LR Defender 110 and the ol’ standby 4Runner.

    School me.

Varies widely. Toyota uses an allocation system and does not officially take custom/special/built orders which seems true for a lot of the Japanese makes. US and EU companies seem more flexible.

The LC and GX just came out, so be patient. It might take a while for inventory to build. The 4Runner is probably your best bet right now availability wise. D110 you can build to order, delivery is about 4 mos by me.
