Damn that's depressing. In this city you never leave anything in your car that could even remotely trigger one of the many roving gangs of young dipshits on Bird/Lime scooters (always rented with someone's stolen credit card) to smash your window and crawl through your car looking for $0.37 to steal.

The big apartment complexes/parking structures are just sitting ducks for these pieces of shit and they've stepped up to taking wheels and other components in the last year so this just checks out. They're caught on doorbell cams and security film all the time but they move so quickly the cops are never there to catch them until one gets shot, or they shoot at someone trying to stop them, and they end up dead. Then it's the usual "he was just going to turn his life around" tears and gofundmes and all the other pathetic shit for street criminals that choose to roll the dice with gunplay over stupid material shit.

I've been lucky to never been a victim, but it happens in every part of this city: good, bad, or somewhere in the middle. I'm fucking over it.

    Atlanta.

These are screengrabs from this morning from a local community-sourced IG news page where people post up shit they think is newsworthy and the page edits and aggregates it. It's way better for real time crime/sports/news/events than any tv/radio station cause everyone has a camera. These are both from nicer parts of the city too, it's way worse in the shittier parts.

I get that crime and theft are part of any major city, that's just part of living with a few other million people. That said, these roving gangs of thieves are pros. They'll smash and grab or steal wheels or the whole damned car for an entire parking lot/garage floor in minutes and then they're gone. Been a serious problem since the pandemic when all these pieces of shit stopped going to school and chose this and gunplay instead. A set of wheels and some ashtray change aren't losing my life over, but every week there's a story of someone who thinks they are. Sad really.

Jeezus. I thought the days of stealing wheels was gone along with radio thefts. I guess not. By me, they take the whole car.

I'm sure most of those are rent-a-wheel repos.

Covid was a very boring time for a lot of youths when they quit school, this filled the down time. Don't get me wrong, car thefts (the whole thing) is still a thing it's just not as easy to lift a whole parking deck floor's worth as it is to steal their wheels/ashtray change.

I used to think that but then when they hit 4-5 cars in a row (like above) in the same lot/deck, it's just a matter of convenience. The number of Hellcats and Jailbreaks that go stolen over the weekends is so high it doesn't even register. On that note, the most common cars to be associated with crime here are (i) Dodge [Challenger/Charger}, and (ii) Nissan Altima. I shit you not.

Here's a clip of a couple dudes breaking into cars one after the other (in a stolen Tesla) in broad daylight from another expensive part of town. These kids/young adults are pros.

note the completely unaware dude in flip flops walking by at the end while they work the next car.

On a lighter note, dropped the car off for service and got this beauty as a loaner. I think I must have pissed them off

One of the benefits of the beat up old Volvo wagon I had was that it appeared COMPLETELY invisible to thieves. Once at a parking lot for a city trail, when my wife came back to the car, thieves had hit up just about every car in the lot except ours. Lots of smashed windows. Our was completely unscathed. They probably took one look at the vehicle and were like "Naaaah." I even tried tempting fate at stores and gas stations in the hood to see if anybody would bother (I had full coverage at the time), leaving car doors unlocked, windows down, and still nothing. Guess it helps to have a car where there's not much demand for parts in those areas. F-150s on the other hand are CONSTANTLY getting parts ripped off. Does Ford make their taillights intentionally easy to steal or something? They're also evidently supremely easy to break into with the handle.

Yikes. On a positive note if those wheels get jacked they shouldn't be to hard to find on FB Marketplace.

75th anniversary edition that they probably couldn’t move in the first place.

I'm proposing the Trunk Monkey to end all Trunk Monkeys. On flakka. Because packing a bait car full of C4 or ANFO is frowned upon. That's the kind of mood I'm in today.

When I'm out working and have a van full of stuff I worry about it getting broken into. Won't they be disappointed when the Hudge bags they barely fit into their getaway car only have bicycle helmets in them. Haha

Not that I blame them. Anyone who's chosen a Nissan as a daily has given up on life.

Can you imagine waking up to this turd in the garage every day?

All 122hp and a CVT. I'd rather have type 2 diabetes.

Meh. It’s still based on a platform that was first released way back in 2001. Would you actually choose one over other available options?

Same issue as Z, but more so. I’d gladly take one if someone’s offering, but would you actually choose to spend your money on one rather than an alternative?
