I doubt that is relevant to you per se, just a factor I am also testing a bit as a key consideration on where to mount these skis

Anyone have any insight on what the closest currently available ski to an R87 Comp would be? Lent my pair to my dad this weekend and he fell in love. He was already planning on a new ski next season but it sounds like there will not be another R87 run for a while, if ever.

Yessir, that's aweome. The most similar ski is going to be the new RC85 that just launched a couple days ago. Not quite the absolute topend of the comps (which very few skis have), but they will ski extremely smooth and round, and should have a really precise ride on firmer snow too.

Ah I forgot to add the qualifier they are the 175s and he is 5'5"/140 so the 183 RC85 will be too big (but looks awesome). He definitely doesn't need the top end but loved the smooth and precise ride.

    10-4!

I look forward to being big enough to have the order volume to justify offering them in the future! Been thinking alot about this actually.

Tested out the BC 110s for 5000’ in pow and pow on top of crust. Fun ski, especially north of 30 mph. The tip felt amazing. The tail, however, felt unwieldy to me except in fresh pow. I did not get to ski any hardpack on it.

Check the tune. Had the same experience on my R110 before I reset to 1.5/2. I had my guy do a base grind as well.

This is like one of those Facebook status posts that just say something like,

Sorry for that. [emoji28] I got home late from skiing and had a 6am flight the next day.

I texted some of my thoughts to Marshall on them. I was only out for a couple of hours, but it was prime Alpental night conditions. Nuking all night with lots of soft, chopped snow.

My primary powder ski is a pre-asym 191 Billy Goat. Marshall wanted me to ski these as he knows I'm a huge fan of that ski and he felt the ST would be comparable.

Short story - I really like the ST but need more time. Float was great (as expected). Cut through the heavier PNW chop well. Could handle slow wiggle turn but came more alive as speed picked up. The two areas where they didn't beat out my BG were in pivotability and composure thru heavier chop. While they are good at pivoting for a wide ski, the old BG is still the king (for me). It was night so I didn't spend a ton of time in the trees, so I'm looking forward to more time in the trees on them. I also felt more energy return than I prefer going thru the chop as it got deeper and heavier. This is more of a PNW specific issue with our snow, but also where the old BG shines.

As with all HL skis, the fit and finish is top notch. The skis have gotten multiple comments from others in the lift line. Again, this is quick thoughts and I'm looking forward to more time. We put demo bindings on these so if any Alpental (or Seattle area) mags want to get out on them, let me know and we can get them in your hands.

Assuming this is in response to meter-man, those were mine. Initially they were ultra grippy in turns. MO very graciously had me take them to start haus for a grind and tune. We set them to 1/2. The grabby/grippiness was gone and the ski felt way better but the tails showed up in big way for me and my skiing style. I did some de-tuning. Meter-Man’s impressions are after all that was done. I think I’m just more of a traditional mount kinda guy and figure I’d let someone else enjoy the BC110s (which MO also sourced for me - what a hero!).

Couple things that really blew me away about the bc110 were 1) SO light weight 2) so damp for such a light weight carbon ski - the on snow feel was just incredible buttery smooth - there is some real magic sauce in there 3) really really fun in pow and when you get them up to speed 4) the build quality and graphics are just so good - I even got shout outs while skiing under the chair during initial in bounds testing!!

Ah! That makes perfect sense. I have grown very fond of the 1.5 base bevel.

Couldn't recall whether there was a bc90 thread, but these things kick so much ass. Granted, I do have the c132 profile protos that are rtarded stiff, but they can even do duty as slackcountry booter sesh skis with the kids (booter in this case: knee high).

I've been thinking/wondering if there shouldn't be a "Carbon Collection" or "HL Touring Skis" type of thread... but also the swallowtails and the C132s kinda blur that distinction.
