@marshall; what’s the realistic window for mounting back on the r110?
As I understand it the sidecut profile is identical to the fr110, and since the R is already -1,5 from the fr, would going back two more be too much?
let me circle back on this later this afternoon, as I had to steal the bindings from the r110 the last 2 weeks and just getting them back on snow today.
The FR likes 5.5 to 8 mounts, and early testing was that the R likes 7 to 9.5 mounts.
i am also really keying in on how much difference cuff angle matters on mount position. The difference between 2-3* lean angle is like 1-1.5cm mount difference on the same ski - which I really wasn’t expecting. I doubt that is relevant to you per se, just a factor I am also testing a bit as a key consideration on where to mount these skis
Marshal and I have discussed this quite a bit, as he's always been in slightly more aggressive FL boots than I,but binding delta is pretty similar(pivots/sallys vs tyrolia race stuff). I've adjusted the forward lean a bit since new year's(16 to 12.5 degrees, incrementally), and find that skis need a similar adjustment. R105s were great at -12 with 16 degrees, and while they're still a lot of fun at 12.5 degrees, I'm going forward to -11 because I think they'll match my stance better that way.
Looking forward to Marshal's dissertation on this myself! [emoji16] Keep the nerdery flowing.

Im in a 13ish (Lange) degree boot on pivots and I think the R110 is perfect for me at -8. Put my 120 at -8.5.
The tune at when I reset it made a HUGE difference of the ease on the tail.
I mounted my R110 at -7.7 and it is extremely fun.
And normally more of a directional mount guy.
Well, dammit, the bindings I put on there had play in the toe and felt pretty disconnected skiing as a result. It was hard to really get a good sense. Need to sub them out.
A more generally comment is...
(1) The R105 and R110 are better comps. I see them as the same ski (in the rotation) as daily driver freeride skis. They are both mega stable and like to haul ass, and engage with the snow really well. The 105 being more traditional and the 110 being more progressive. If you are really wanting to push the mounts of the 105 forward or the 110 back beyond the range I mention... just get the other ski IMO.
(2) the FR110 is a soft snow ski (ie Soft Snow Gymkaha). Its for slashing and drifting ridiculous turns or going for airs and transfers in moguls. It is an absolute blast of a ski, but I wouldn't call it a daily driver to the same degree as the others.
(3) Don't get lost in the numbers. The FL105 at -11 and the R110 at -8.5 are similarly chargy for example, and I could easily switch between them. Just because a person likes a ski at a certain number doesn't mean every ski is the same! Sorry for the general statement, not directed at anyone, but its about adapting stance and weighting to a ski, not getting laser-focused on a single variable of a complex system.
Hope this helps...

Buster, where did you mount your pair?
Perfect bluebird, nut deep pow day. Started off on the c132s, finished on the fl113s. Pure bliss!

NIIIIIICE Arild!
Is there an HB thread? If so I suck at searching.
Anyway, how would these compare to an older Volkl Revolt 124?

I love these skis and have beaten the shit out of them. I have never had real Hellbents fwiw. I love these revolts for super deep mornings/storm days or just blowing through big fat piles of cut up pow in the afternoon. You can point them through pretty much whatever and come out the other side. Floppy but not too floppy. Still good edge hold etc.

Here you are sir.
Just wanted to chime in here with a huge thanks to Marshal! He's going above and beyond to set me up with skis that I'll jive with.
I bought some FR110's, and they're really well made skis but I just didn't quite click with them. No problem - I lined up a local sale for a reasonable price. Marshall got wind of this, and without any solicitation offered to swap the FR's out for some R's, since it sounds like I'll get along with those a bit better.
The whole transaction has been pretty awesome, and definitely has me figuring out which other HL skis I need to add to the lineup.
Have to agree: Marshal is the man and really easy to work with. He has gone above and beyond in helping me switch out a ski I didn’t quite like with a completely new pair of a different model. Top notch customer service! Thanks Marshal
x138 for Marshal being Teh Man™.
I've got a pair of R120 AM (the metal pink bastards from last year, not the swallowtails) and they're a super rad ski, but aren't the best fit for me. He worked it out to swap me for a pair of BC105s that were also previously skied and didn't work for the previous owner. Stoked on that. Watch for those in the outlet early March if anyone is interested...
I also have HB122 and R105 inbounds next fall... full Heritage Labs quiver* starting next season,
*Unless you count the 2011 Volkl Mantras I just picked up second hand for $80 to serve as low tide / firm snow / rock skis.
