I must respectfully point out that Asahi is the Budweiser (or Coors?) of Japan, but if you switch to Kirin Lager, that's a pretty great meal. I had a luxury tonkatsu in some specialty tonkatsu restaurant in Tokyo years ago (something like $30 or $40 for lunch) and it was transcendent.

Thin cut of meat - tenderized - breaded - fried - topped with a sauce (gravy). It’s the definition of a cutlet.

It’s last on the list. Not because there’s no good CFS, there’s obviously legendary CFS, but because the floor is soooo low.

Why do all of you hate America? CFS is number 1. Especially when you hit a diner in Dubois after a month in the Winds eating mac and cheese every night.
    And that's DO-boys, not Do-BWAH. Like I said, America.

    Cutlet Power Rankings

Nick is doing god’s work here.

I mean the current list is slightly fucked. But it’s a conversation that needed to be had. Picatta, by the way, is number one. By a wide margin.

    Need a list revision nick

Cutlet (derived from French côtelette, côte, "rib"[1][2]) refers to:

a thin slice of meat from the leg or ribs of mutton, veal,[2] pork, or chicken
a dish made of such slice, often breaded (also known in various languages as a cotoletta, Kotelett, kotlet or kotleta)
a croquette or cutlet-shaped patty made of ground meat
a kind of fish cut where the fish is sliced perpendicular to the spine, rather than parallel (as with fillets); often synonymous with steak
a prawn or shrimp with its head and outer shell removed, leaving only the flesh and tail
a mash of vegetables (usually potatoes) fried with bread

    =======
    Fuckkkkk
Damned wiki. Now we have to include fish and shrimp cutlets?

Bubba gump ain’t never mentioned shrimp cutlets.

A bit of a tangent, but it's sad that AE has gone the way of so many formerly premium brands that were only acquired by PE/amalgamators for their reputation as premium producers so that the acquiring company could slowly erode the quality by using cheaper materials and farming the work out overseas with an eye towards increasing the profits until everyone began to realize that they'd been bamboozled and just gave up on the brand altogether

    Cletus: Duly noted.

The beauty of CFS is the sausage gravy. Two meats for the price of one. What could be more American than that? OK, turducken, but you can only eat that once a year.

old goat has a point, the fact that CFS comes guaranteed to be smothered in more meat does give it bonus points.
