I have a tts setup (b&d plate with dyna toe and voile heel piece) on a pair of rossi bc 110s. They are great for meadow skipping and low angle turns.

I have a TTS binding on the B&D plate mounted on some Madshus Epoch (99-68-84), now called the Panorama M68. I ski them with modified old bellowed F1s for shuffling around in the woods and meadow skipping. They are essentially a modern day version of the Excursion and 3-pin hardwire lash up.

Not sure an XCD ski like that would handle the kind of skiing I'm envisioning for this setup. My XC(D) setup is a pair of Fischer S-Bound 98s with a voile cable binding and some cheap leathers. I don't think I'd feel comfortable ripping that ski down south sister or any other volcano locally. Right now the closest thing to what I'm looking for that I've got is a Summitcone Outcast 97C, but it weighs 1800g per ski in the 184 length. I'm probably shooting for a weight in the 1300-1400 g range in an upper 170s length, but with a core more robust than paulownia?

I've been thinking of doing a similar set-up with the Wayback 88. K2 replaced them this season with the 89 version, so you can find the 88 on sale. IME, K2 provides reliable mounting areas for tele bindings, even in their lighter skis, but the 88 does have a paulownia core. The Wayback 88 is definitely a capable volcano ski. (1275g in 174cm; 1360g in 181cm).

I am loving my salomon mtn 96. About 1540/ski and they’re capable on just about anything.

If anyone here has any Scarpa connections, I’d really love to get a pair of the new TX Pros in a 27.5.

Just putting that out there to the universe.

Does Scarpa even have any warm bodies in the US anymore?

    Telemark skiing is dead.

I believe Kim Miller is still at scarpa.

Here are pictures of the outlaw x shim/tape with the shim-induced “space” and the manual that describes the need for the space. The shim apparently can help step-in in addition to adding that “spacer gap.” If you search “shim” on the main telemark FB groups, you can find people discussing and complaining about the problem. Interestingly, the pictured skis (bibby’s) were purchased from Sierra Fred by-way-of clydesdad, both of ttips fame. I’m glad I found the ski when I prereleased. Boot penetration in the cement was crotch deep.

Ha! Try ‘‘em on a 65-70 mm waisted ski! Risers are your friend. If the Bandit brakes are retractable ( I’m assuming this means they pull in in the loaded/retracted state) it would be a game changer.

To close the loop, I found a pair of Wayback 88s on the tele gear exchange on facebook with Freerides. I'll be pulling those off and mounting 22D inserts for Lynx. Pretty happy with that overall. Sheds about 400g per foot from the current setup.

Kinkilla, that's great -- I hope the Waybacks work out for you. The Freeride to 22D mount conversion looks interesting. I haven't done it, but it looks like you can reuse two of the Freeride holes for the 22D mount. Is that what you are planning on doing? Let us know how it works out.

Saw those. Almost pulled the trigger for the Freerides. PM me a price if you are interested in parting with them. Cheers

Should be stamped on the tongue of the shell. Liners will vary.

I think the components north of the clog are shared across different sizes. The tongue says 7/8 which could be a 26 or 27.

    Correct. Same as mine. I'm a 26.5.

Thanks! I thought it felt roomier than what I remember about my 20th c T2 which were 25.5/26. I’ll just use thick socks and stick to the performance fit for alpine

Even though she gave up tele-ing awhile ago, she remains iconic.

So sad, she was definitely a spark of energy, and a really fun person to ski with.

I wonder if she still thinks telemarking is stupid?

    Full circles

    We all float on.
