East Coast Roll Call 23/24_The Guns Are Blowing

Almost forgot what that big yellow thing in the sky was…we’ve been skiing in a cloud for so long. Saddleback has been pretty nice the past few days even with the lack of natural snow. Today was the perfect day to chase the kids around…

the infrastructure at sugarbush is such hot garbage. i don't think i've had a day at mellen in at least 10+ years when there wasn't some short of lift fuckery going on. not that lincoln's much better, either...

Out for a tour yesterday that was fun if uneventful, Direct south faces had damp soft snow and a nicely edge able crust, anything else was 1 1/4" of powder over a zippy ice layer. Firm and supportive surface everywhere, iced and rimed droopy branches required a lot of pole whacking while ascending. Some old moose tracks, saw fresher ones but no Bullwinkle. Great to be out and about.

Lots of widowmaker action that brings down many branches. I would expect as it warms up this week the forest experience will be similar to your average rain shower head bathing

No video, and to be abundantly clear, I was happy to merely spectate the SkiJoring.

But, I did ski with Harry, so I’ve got that going for me… which is nice.

Jay backcountry was surprisingly nice yesterday in the low angle woods; kept it mellow, no wind, blue skies, great day for a tour. Top 6" or so of cream cheese, there was a "crust" layer lurking below that was more just like a thick layer of firm snow, if you went full bore and broke thru it you'd surely have a bad time but we managed to just noodle around on the soft stuff and had a blast.

speaking of Jay, decent write up on the ol' EB-5 scandal that came out recently - I still think someone ought to make a little documentary or something: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2...rnational-scam

163cm Laser SC was the choice weapon for today. So much fun on ice, like stoopid fun.
