Yesterday was a hard day in southern Vt. Stratton closed five trails to get a guy down with multi fracture trauma to femur as well.

Prayers to august west and the gentlemans family.

Non-mag friend was on an organized snowshoe hike of about 1 mile each way. Departed from the Magic Lodge.
Less than 1/2 mile into the snowshoe hike, 60-yo male stopped abruptly and then collapsed.
Fellow participants attempted to render aid and called the ski patrol as well as 9-1-1
MM Ski Patrol responded as did Londonderry Rescue.
Subject was non-responsive and was deceased before they could transport him to the hospital.
Had a beer with him on Friday and we were planning a midweek trip to S-6.
Definitely a pillar of the Magic community.
    No other info....
    Fuck.
Oh no so sorry to hear this. This was the Outing Club Moonlight snowshoe. Wife and I were thinking of going but end up home in NY. Just terrible news. Condolences to family and friends and the Magic community. And RIP Friend of Magic.....

Condolences to all impacted by such an unexpected shock at Magic.

We shuffled around on the Catamount Trail this afternoon. We found rotting snow which allowed our poles to punch through and really no chance to make any turns.

6-10” with enough cold to seal up the base and we would be back in bidnez.

Sorry to hear this August… wishing you, family, and other friends of this gentleman some peace as you all work through it.

Departed Maine on Wed, arrived Bozeman safe and sound last night. 4 days including a 1/2 day skiing in ‘da MidWest with Harry and crew. Lots of windshield time and New Riders of the Purple Sage tunes.

Appreciate the comments and thoughts. Make sure to share the vibes with anybody you know that skis regularly at Magic.

Single, that looks like an amazing trip...a bit better than when I went to Wydaho 2 years ago and white knuckled it from Chicago to Rock Springs.

SC I'm scheming up a little roadtrip for myself end of Feb. thru mid-April with the first week being Bozeman; I'll holler about change for a nickel when I'm out there, we'll show 'em how us east coasters get down; cheers.

And KT, thanks for the tip; will probably stick to my usual spots to avoid the slashed tires tho, appreciate the heads up lol

Hey we have the whole mines Madeleine hut March 11-15, 2024. We are at six but room for two more. Need to stay night of March 10 in Cambelton or Saint Anne des Monts to be there for baggage shuttle in the morning. $200 usd or so including bag shuttle in and out. From what I’ve seen best bc skiing on EC in a hut with electricity, shower, toilet, stove and refrigerators. We don’t need more folks as cheap, but a great opportunity to share. Hitch is I need to know by February 8 so I can sort payment per person

Damn. I've wanted to visit that hut since I spent a week skiing out of one of the chalets over a decade ago, but there is a zero percent chance of getting away from work then.
