Saturday at PTOV: Mighty Mites cancelled so I'm stuck with a 7 year old. Daughter's Big Mountain Team was able to get a few Funi laps while hiking over into lower Headwall face/CII zone until the storm set in properly. Me and the little guy just hammered Red Dog and Resort Chair with a few bus laps back to Red Dog to warm up when Resort Chair line was insane. Long lunch at Sandy's, took the kids back to our accommodations and I rallied until 4:15pm. Not much to ski down low but patrol was lenient on skiing off Lakeview so got some fun hippy pow laps on Resort Chair before closing. Tried some bush pow turns off Red Dog but tails were still hitting the earth underneath.

Sunday - Cold, teams running so I run to get in line at Wa She Shue. Eventually a dude says they are opening it at 9:30am so I bail to look at Tram or Funi. Tram line is out the door so that won't work and Funi it is. 45 mins later I'm putting skis on to get into another line at Sibo. See Kush, Gaffney et all at Reverse Traverse rope drop. They opened Palsidaes for about an hour while I was riding lifts so missed that session unfortunately. Then it was 4 Reverse Traverse laps involving the Slot to CII Bowl down to Wa She Shue. Lots of rocks but also plenty of good turns as well. Always fun kicking in that mid-Light Towers traverse to add some spice in my life. Kid pickup at 1:30pm, no chain controls, boom.

(In Truckee we pay for disposable take out containers, the money going to the business, even though there's no alternative at any takeout place I know of and the business has no incentive to offer one. )
There's a handful of takeout paces in the "Green Box" takeout container exchange program - https://www.keeptruckeegreen.org/use...-go-container/

    Back on topic -

SB opening Sisters yesterday afternoon was a great scene. Lots of kids out shredding after the morning comp.

Kirkwood was so good yesterday, but it was nice to chill in the BC today.

What's going on with KT? I thought they'd have enough snow after the last storm to open it up.

Should be interesting. Above the Fingers, the coverage is adequate enough but looking at the bottom of Saddle etc, there's no way they are throwing a groomer in there. East Face to Three Trees had some nice patrol tracks on Sunday though.

Yeah, if you're hitting KT opening you might wanna still use those rock skis...

Scott chair and KT are supposed to open today, weather dependent. Should be spicy. Hopefully it'll fill in with this round of storms.

All of my skis are rock skis this year....

Tahoe '23/'24 - Reserve Now For Best Pricing!!!

KT closed early due to avalanche in GS bowl. Looked serious with possible burial(s). Craze thing is I skied it the run before.

EDIT: now the whole resort is (temporarily?) closed. Avvy dogs and patrol rushed up. Really hope everyone is okay.

Yesterday was basically rain here in Tahoma. Definitely created an upside down snow pack. Something that is gonna be repeated with even more weight on saturday

Alpine patrol would be sending patrollers and dogs to help OV in a large slide/search scenario which would leave them with reduced coverage on their side, necessitating reduced lift/open area operations

Both sides fully closed for the day now. Fuck, this does not bode well.

Edit: FB post not mine - don't know them (just know someone that was tagged so it showed up in my feed). Post was since been taken down. I don't know if there are other burials.
Edit 2: deleting FB screenshot - likely inaccurate

He took it down off FB (or changed it's audience). Presumably in response to one of the many offers he got from media companies.

Yikes, that’s scary. You clearly were very lucky. Go buy a lotto ticket.

Hope everyone is ok but doesn’t sound good.

Not everyone came out clean. Sounds like active CPR was being performed and at least a broken leg for some involved. I'll try to get the X clip.

Hope they did in fact pull everyone out. Looks like weather has come in.
