generally when a mfg puts bikes/parts on sale, they will also offer discounted pricing to dealers. If it's something already in stock that was bought at the original wholesale price, you can usually price match and then get a credit for the difference.

As far as something being listed for sale but then being out of stock, yeah, that shit happens sometimes. Probably it's part of a larger sale that's still going exists still at local shops, more are on order from the factory, etc. Say you go into a store and find the tire that's sold out online. Would you rather the website has gone back to listing msrp, or the sale price?

The "find at a local shop" option on sites will usually miss a lot as shops have to be on like trek or specialized pos systems or at least have some sort of an online inventory tracking system and then opt into it. Which is definitely not going to be every shop. Especially when they'll try to pull shit like "oh we saw you sold X item so a new one has automatically been ordered and sent to you here's the bill."

Had to buy a couple as well, I don't think I've ever seen them this cheap. They make the Specialize price seem high, even after buying a sharpie to black out that obnoxious yellow lettering

White is OEM right? I got used to the stealth branding of the older Spesh tires, basically all black.

Damnit, got these tires today and they’re not Double Downs, they’re EXO. Also, not that it matters but in my order confirmation email it specifically says “black/yellow”, they’re whites label OE takeoffs with no packaging. Thought it was weird and even a little suspicious they would say that.

Said it before in this thread, Planet Cyclery/Colorado Cyclist are sketchy. Fool me once…

Can’t decide if I should keep the tires. It’s still a great price and I can run EXO locally just fine but I do need a couple DDs for a trip this year.

Edit: Also, that link says EXO tires now for the same price, it even says “black/yellow”. My confirmation email says DD though. Of course they don’t have the DDs in stock. Fuckers.

That sucks. Mine haven't shown up yet. Hopefully they're DD - I don't have much use for Exo's. Already have piles of DHR2 exos lying around, mostly with fresh tread and a bunch of patched holes in them.

I wonder if they just ran out or made a shipping mistake. I picked up two of the DD ones and they came exactly as described. It sounds like it has been real hit or miss with this sale.

IME you gotta be pretty careful ordering a Maxxis cuz On Maxxis.com you will find 9 incantations of assguy and thats just the Assguy

which is why I quoted a maxxis p/n , i have stared at the CRC page for an hr to get the tire I wanted

Nice, jealous! Looks like I'll be paying full pop, or close to it for some DDs. Prolly order sooner than later while they're available. Seems like stock gets thin in the spring and summer.

Balls, guess we'll see when mine arrive. I bought DD specifically to go on the portly bike, I have a whole pile of GridTrail tires for the other bike. Not sure I'd keep them. Oh well...

my guess is that those came from the Nukeproof/Vitus liquidation, or other 'grey market' arena.

It was good back in November. Thought I mentioned it here a few times but I ordered 3x DD DHRIIs and a couple Exo+ Ass Guys at <$40/ea. Everything in my order showed up as advertised.

Mine finally showed up. All 3 are OEM (white logo) Exo's. Started a return on them.

Slightly annoyed that the only thing I managed to buy is a trip to the post office.

I ordered two Dissectors from the sale - both matched the website description (Exo).

My DT wheelset, however... I happened to run into the FedEx driver at delivery time, and the end of the freehub was poking out of the box, scraped up. I refused delivery. Waiting for Planet Cyclery to send me another wheelset.

Same here. The return looks to be out of pocket too? Shiiiiiiiiiiit, trip to the PO and $7 lighter, definitely not a win.

At first glance I thought it was the plastic cap they stick on both sides of the hub during shipping and you might be fine but nope, definitely the hub itself. That blows. It's wild to me how flimsy the packaging is for big ticket items with obvious weak points...

It says on their site that if they ship the wrong item, return postage is on them. I haven't heard back from them yet, so we'll see if they try to make that difficult.

Damn that's a bummer. I have seen a few people have problems with returns. Unfortunately, don't think I'm gonna bother trying.

Fast rolling rear enduro tire that still can brake. Currently running a butcher t9 and thinking about something faster for the summer. I ride a lot of steep loose trails and need enough braking traction to keep the bike pointing forwards, tried a rock razor that failed at this job. I90 tech trails are my home. I ride a magic Mary up front year round on the big bike.
Thinking eliminator t9, xynotal enduro or tacky Chan as top spots but looking for feedback.

Michelin Wild Enduro Rear fits that bill: https://www.tradeinn.com/bikeinn/en/...re/137176450/p

If they're in stock at Jenson they'll match the Bikeinn price and ship free. Pretty similar to the Eliminator but brakes a bit better IMO.

Depending on the level of protection you want, there's also the Eliminator Grid Gravity T7/T9. I haven't used it yet, although I've got one ordered to use this summer.

I have a butcher t9 grid trail with a tannus insert right now that feels good casing wise. More steep loose and rooty here than sharp rocks or high speeds demanding a stiffer casing and the lighter ones roll faster.
