Will replacing the cuff pivot only fix issues with the pivot or can a new pivot compensate for the hole in the upper being too large?

I have a million vert on this pair. Definitely some ovalization in the upper but not massive.

A new pivot can't compensate for an ovalized upper hole which is what I did in addressing the wear too late. My boots looked like yours

So last year I ordered some of the buckles from the plain Zero G Tour (the blue one). It has normal buckles. But to my surprise the buckle catches did not have touring extensions/catches on them. So I found a pair of beat up ancient Atomic Hawx for like $30 and took the catches from them This reduces the fiddle factor significantly. It actually improves the touring range of motion too, because those touring catches extend quite a bit farther than the original ones.

I was also sick of the instep buckles just falling off because of the previously mentioned springs breaking so I grabbed some buckle cathces from old Dynafit Ones (ore TLT 6, Vlucans, Mercuries...) and put them them on the instep. Works great with the original wire buckle.

I have always found toe buckles to be pointless, particularly on a touring boot. I never tighten them, so I removed them years ago, filled the holes with silicone and never had an issue.

Yes, I am a huuuuge nerd.

Also, I've developed a huge amount of slop in the cuff rivets. I had them pressed twice which temporarily helped. Tecnica sent me a new set of the rivets, just had them installed for $60, good as new. So it seems there was no rounding out of the plastic, it was just the rivets that were shot. But I have't used them yet.

I've got 4 shell punches on each boot so not very interested in replacing these until I find something that skis nearly as well and tours better (very hopeful that the replacement that should be coming out next year will have improved touring range of motion).

Do your upper buckles lock forward like the Zero G pro ones do? And how tight is the buckle in the extra long touring catch? I found the original Hawx buckle was super tight in those catches and it was to fiddley when taking them out.

They don't lock forward, but I'm not sure if it really makes much of a difference. On mine at least it seems like the the shell wants to open up on its own and that just pulls the buckle almost all the way forward on its own anyways. The buckle fits nicely in the touring catch of the Hawx touring catch. Snug enough to stay put but very easy to take out of it. However, for the first time ever I actually saw a pair of the blue Zero Gs in a shop the other day and that pair actually had touring catches on the buckles. Weird that mine came without them. But I think the Hawx ones might extend out a bit farther, giving creating a bit more slack in the system, and therefore better touring range of motion. These buckles are slightly heaving than the ones than come on the boots FYI, but its minimal.

    Sweet. Thanks for the info.

I could not care less about the weight. My zipfits already added 42 lbs

How did you remove the rivets from the original buckles?

Do you mean how did I remove them from the boot? Just drill the rivets out, drill the head of the rivet off the you can pull the buckle off and remove the rest of the rivet.

And check for heat buildup frequently so you don't expand the holes ;-)

Was just passed along this information from someone who got it from Tecnica re the ZeroG cuff pivots who was looking for solutions to heel slop

This is what I got back from Tecnica: "Thanks for reaching out. The current 23-24 Zero G Tour line has had not changes to the medial cuff rivet points however we have addressed this and next year's Zero G Tour line will have a hinge rivet similar to what you see on the Peak."

I remember a forward lean mod piece someone had buried in this thread. That replaced the bracket on the back of the boot. Was it the Raide one or another? If another please point me too it.

Raide has one. I ordered them for my wife's ZGTPs, but am waiting on a replacement screw that they're sending for install.

Looking for replacement rivets. Are these for the Zero G or Zero G Peak? Drop down menu says Zero G, generic part description says Zero G Peak.

I think the replacements for the peak work with both boots. With the peaks being designed to not wallow out.

Anyone softened these things up? I saw a post somewhere about replacing the topmost buckle with a booster. Any other ideas besides getting scouts or not buckling as tight? These things are harsh as fuck in uneven snow. The bucking bronco routine has gotta go.

Wear your top buckle looser and use a booster strap on your liner. Turns the boot into a 110.

Just for the record. These do not seem to work. Completely different diameter.

Are the liners in these garbage? Because that's getting into really light territory....

I'm new to the ZGTP family, but the advertised specs for the current gen were for a 26 maybe, because a 27.5 with stock liners weighed at 1416 grams. I'm not a touring boot expert, but I've tried and owned several pairs and imo mass has a pretty direct correlation to performance. If it is that light, I can't imagine it skiing as well as the current boot. Also, the shape of the last is changing for a more "anatomical fit."

One of the great things about the current zero g is the crazy number of people it fits. Hope they didn't fuck that up.
