Skiing was soft and carvy today with a side of warm.

The crowds are ramping up.

do you know the status of uphill currently at snowking? only to the top of rafferty or can one continue to the top? is there enough snow to get from the summit back to the top of rafferty? TIA

Someone mentioned this book is last years thread. I preordered one and forgot about it. Showed up today. Just flipping through it and it looks sweet. Great photography and a bunch of local history sections. Thanks for the recommendation, whoever that was!

Anyone know if the village is bound by any snow blowing parameters? Date, water volume, etc? Just curious. Temps look favorable for that kind of thing for the foreseeable future.


For anyone fretting about the snow, don't. It's been skiing pretty dang good inbounds. Was riding up Sublette with DJ and lindenle last week when someone commented about how ridiculously rad it would be to be skiing it for the first time in these conditions. Like, come out from a place where there's no snow and see Laramie bowl for the first time. Needless to say, a little sensory deprivation back east is doing me well right now... Tomorrow some buddies and I are driving two hours one way to ski what will most likely be a single trail of 600 vert. And the racing stick thread is getting me amped to take the GS skis out for a rip when I get back.

From an objective standpoint, the 2011-2012 winter is the only winter in the past 16 years of Snotel data that had less snow than the current winter-



Things are bad and they are going to get worse for at least the next two weeks.





I'm headed to Detroit for Christmas to visit my fiance's family. I thought for sure that would kick of an atmospheric river, but I guess not

How’s the snow surface holding up at Targhee? Got pretty rough up at Bridger today, Ie rock hard. Was thinking of heading down to Targhee tomorrow for a little pow skiing if it didn’t get rock hard underneath. Thoughts?

I haven't skied since Tuesday, but W and NW facing groomers were OK. Be really careful on any S-SW aspect. Huge swaths of Colter and Sac are down to bare ground and the forecasted 3-5 inches will be just enough to mask rocks and stumps. Might not be worth the drive.

I was just thinking about that today when I noticed he posted something either today or the past few days to the effect of "This winter might be totally normal, depending on how you look at it."

As much as I respect his hyper-local forecasts, it has always been interesting to me to have a meteorologist who seems not to think that things are getting warmer (on average) and more routinely "weird."

But…… 2021 December, we arrived with no new snow and dozens of inches fell upon our arrival making for some very f the best storm day turns of my life. Then, end of March last year, we hit it just right and forgot our snorkels. You’re welcome. 😉

Have to say the ghee was surprisingly good this afternoon. Ran up to pick up the groms from Freeride team and skied from 3-4 and was shocked to see 6-8” of fresh. Yes still felt the crunchies here and there but what a nice surprise today. LeTitsNow

It was awesome... and the snow is falling right side up. Bonded with the crap layer making for some super smooth turns. Mt. Hood is my home and dense snow is the name of the game. Good thing winds were light or we would have a bunch of slabs.

Had a ton of fun in Blackfoot from opening bell. Then, after an early lunch/brunch in the room, I shifted to the Southern reaches of the Ghee and found lots of untracked/fresh in the upper reaches of Colter. Today is up there with other great first days of a season. Looking forward to bundling up and enjoying tomorrow too. The Ghee is my favorite place on the planet.

I wish, would love a tiny home in Tetonia. But, I'm a teacher. So, you'll have to wait for holidays, Oregon Spring Break, or when I retire in 4 years.

Turns were hard and fast first thing at the vill today. Got a quick start and beat everyone up to sublette for a handful of racers.

Getting busy quickly. Lotsa kooks and FDBs.

fun day at the village! ghost town at 9 am. Loaded sweetwater at 840 AM to be met with a life size stuffed bear in my cabin and passed on that one lol.

First tram at 9, 20 people? Everything fast, firm and fun. started to pick up at 11 but everything was walk until I left at 2. Was lapping thunder and sublette. My skis pretty mangled from all the rocks lol. some real firm faces (10 sleep off sublette man was that firm tough to find an edge on). Finally ended up on wide open where they were blowing snow and ripped frozen ice pellet 'powder' laps off that for like 6 laps. Lots of fun and cold!
