Jackass will be groomers as off piste will be, umm, firm or a big crust unless south facing and sunny. Our coverage is actually really good. Sounds like they are looking to open more terrain/lifts Thursday/tomorrow.
It’s early season so I guess the new ski question is if you’re willing to maybe clip a rock or two. Hopefully they are skinny’s as it will be firm. I could be wrong but the heavy mist to the top on sunday tells me otherwise.
I will hopefully be rolling R99’s or even 82 monsters this weekend and sticking to groomers or stuff I’ve skied that I know has coverage.
This time of year is all about leg building and getting back in the groove. Man the last two weekends of skiing pow was a nice start tho.

Yeah, that’s the backup plan. Mount skis and ride beacon, but my mind is thinking skiing

That doesn’t sound bad, sounds much better than what I’ve heard about Schweitzer.

My choices are new dw 104s or beat up reckoner 112s. Would definitely prefer the DWs but not sure if I want to run the risk. Thanks for the update

Considering Thompson peak as well for backcountry but I haven’t seen any trip reports on panhandle backcountry which makes me hesitant

We’re supposed to get some snow on Tuesday, and maybe we’ll get more through Christmas? Do your snow dances, make an offer in the Plea to Ullr thread, burn some pow skis, IDK.

I would be really stoked if the weather Alyeska is getting would move south and we could get 100" in a week...
I'll be up skiing friday or saturday, probably at jackass unless something drastically changes.
But Ellen kicks ass - if she had a beard it would be much more haggard. -Jer

Well, today was first of the season at Mt. Spokane. While Schweitzer is low tide on Midway only, MS had a little more terrain open with three chairs and a few runs open. That said, I'm not going again until we get some snow. Six runs in and boredom took over and that was that. Very sparse coverage but the groomed on NW Passage and New Face (Chair 3 Face) was decent but I can only take so much.

Skied 49 on Friday. Fun to be riding lifts again, with the one groomed run holding up pretty well until lunch (when the chocolate chips became difficult to dodge), and no complaints about the US$49 ticket (Whitewater was charging CAN$118 for less). Got bored and ducked the ropes a couple of times, which was pretty decent until ~1/2 way down, when it became super (6” of mush on dirt) sketchy.

Don’t need this type of negativity in here even though it’s probably coming.

Slushy snow was fun at Mt Spokane. They are doing amazing job moving snow around. That’s it and that’s all for 2023.

"Let's get away for the week, Schweitzer has to be doing better than we are!"

Ang like legit fun rock dodging I just wish they'd let me dodge the rocks of my chosing and open more terrain.

I was alarmed yesterday at the number of Seattle folks I met on the chair. For the same drive time you could be at any number of Canadian mountains that actually have snow.

Are there any Canadian places that actually have snow? I think every place is struggling. Plus if you are on Ikon, Schweitzer is still closer than either Red or Revelstoke. I'm afraid Schweitzer will becime the Ikon release valve for Crystal skiers.

I skied at panorama (it’s on ikon) this week and it has awesome coverage top to bottom. It’s a 4000 vertical foot mountain. Obviously a bit more of a drive.

I think kicking horse upper mountain is pretty good too from what I’ve heard.

And I think a lot of okanogan resorts are thin but are a lot more skiable with low snow than Schweitzer.

And mission is skiing well from what I’ve heard.

It was raining up at Schweitzer this afternoon [emoji17]

That's the dilemma. Red just BARELY opened. Sun Peaks is an alternate about the same time commitment but we already had daycare lined up before we thought of it. I don't know how they're doing though

Bachelor is the same time commitment more of a known entity as a destination, town included.

And Pano is ~9.5 hrs from Seattle. Not super doable with a toddler.
