Praying Platty can somehow open something off the top for Saturday but not holding out hope. Still pumped for a NE ski day.

last weekend they ran the triple only. i'd expect the same this saturday. they have had decent snowmaking windows since the rain so there should be good cover on whatever's open. looks pretty great considering...and with the coldest stretch of the week now upon us.

even without the hikes to the nats, the limited routes off the triple were soft, fast and fun.

No, thats great though. The temps are looking to cooperate for a bit/fingers crossed. Crabbe mt is still without power so theyve pushed back opening a few days and despite the nice temp drop they cant fire up the guns. Feel for those guys. They busted a gut this year trying to get it together before the xmas break with their new guns until they got shut down. Other hills in the province have them fired back up and broadcasting it on the socials. Poor crabbe even lost their webcam and wifi. They should be back at it today hopefully

Unfortunately it looks like one more negative storm before a pattern change - a potentially significant change for the better. Whether that can deliver a big "reset" storm is TBD. But another week of bah humbug to suffer through beforehand.

I feel for Magic. Ever since having water in pond the temps - not mentioned the precipitation type - has not been friendly. Temps are turning out a bit colder this week than expected a few days back so maybe they can string something together. Key will be if guns can stay on tomorrow down low.

This one might have a lot more snow on the 'back end' though. So, it might not be a total bummer...

As much as I dismiss Sunday River for what it has become, it is only because I grew up there as a teen and had a hell of a time ripping around that place. Nowhere could live up to those childhood memories… GET OFF MY LAWN! I also went back and coached there for a bit before it jumped the shark and became what it now is… Mall of Massachusetts. That kind of familiarity can breed contempt and I haven’t been back skiing there in over 20 years… I just hate the corporate homogeneity of the place. I should get over it and go back for a day… they always have great snow surfaces and will rebound quickly and efficiently from this blow that would leave most reeling and on the ropes.(Sorry Magic).

Sunday River will take this on the chin and keep on going. Good for them. Props.

There is nothing like a bump run directly under the chair when you’re full of hormones and just got fucked up on Goat Path from a Veryfine juice bottle filled with god-knows-what mixed shots of whatever you could steal. Don’t hit the towers! Different risk calculus back then. We were invincible!

    Very vincible…

Sounds like there’s a line between invincible and convinceable that one must cross with or without the agony of a juicebox

^^ yea it's the sort of footage that would've be startling enough if it were happening in the tropics, far away.

Memory lane. It was probably mid 80s last time I skied agony. Isn’t there “you know you’re old when” thread somewhere in these parts?

If there was footage of the Sunday River at the twin bridges (Ketchum), I suspect it would also be quite impressive. Both bridges are still there, but apparently the roadway between them no longer exists.

Whitegrass WV from Tuesday night. Ended up there by chance, in a way, taking skis along on a trip with no expectations. But it all lined up: snow, an old friend, moonlight, and this obviously very special place. Lo-fi pics, but I think the spirit is there.

Timberline wasn't bad either, I understand the snow gun thing now...

a crispy 9º bob and dead calm

Steam from snowmaking is obscuring the view this morning. Chemtrails were nicely colored by the alpenglow.

    Moonlight in WV is perfect

Yer guys patience and optimism is admirable.
The NE great start to winter pears to be water over the bridge.
