No crowds at Schralpine today! But one of the wettest days I have skied...

Nice to get in a few laps with ya 666 at the Ghettos this weekend.
    Fuck those fucking motherfuckers!

I’ve been loving those little bumps around the S turn. Cant wait till things get filled up. I definitely hit a few branches n small sharks every run lol, but my bases actually haven’t noticed much

Those bumps at the S turn is the only really natural snow over there right now. I also enjoyed skiing the sides of Lakeview when I was there a week and half ago, with the fresh snow from overnight. Hopefully this system will get some more stuff on the upper mountain going.

What are you skiing on this year? IIRC we have similar tastes in skis, and I’m just wondering

All old gear. I spent last winter in Singapore, so I was not buying anything.

    Wildcat 190 (the narrow one)
    Wren 98 189
OG Wren 191 - rock ski
    Bodacious 196
    Wren 111 191
Mantra 183 - full camber edition

I think that is my current alpine quiver.

The day I was at Pali I was rocking the Mantras. At KW I was on the Wren 98 for a few runs and then Wildcats. Then onto the OG Wrens for playing in the rocky zones. The Wildcats are pretty much my favorite ski in the group. Easy to ski, but they can still rail.

Snow at Alpine base. Looks like it is just changing. KW base road has a thick layer of slush. Fingers crossed it keeps on snowing into the night.

Yes KW seems to have changed over on the webcam relatively early this morning, and was sticking to trees at around pole #2 on chair 5 by around 11. I'm guessing they actually end up with quite a decent snowfall on the top half of the mountain by the time this is over. Hopefully, to your point, we can keep that precipitation going all night and get at least another 6-9" or so at the bottom to cover up that unsightly green shrubbery between the runs, lest I get flashbacks to skiing Hidden Valley, NJ as a kid.

Went to Carson Pass to check things out. Probably 4-5" in the north lot at 1:00. 34 degrees, which was what it was from Luther pass through hope valley and back to the top of the Carson pass. Skinned up toward frog lake zone but stayed on nw facing slopes. The Red lake drainage was sketchy with hollow snowpack, cracking around every step, but some thick dense layers that should bridge things with a little patience. There should be a report from the area on SAC as I'm pretty sure the other track was there to dig pits. The skiing was supportable enough for skiing but horrible for the doggoe.

Nice! I knew we liked similar skis. I loved old Wrens(wish I never sold), Bodacious (will never sell), and Wildcats(have 108s currently, want to add 101 and 118 next year)

I think this is where the three strikes rule comes into play. Do it three times and you'll be blocked from making reservations. I'm sure there's a naughty list that will follow you season to season, also. The system will evolve.

Oh man. My bases hate me. I almost feel bad about what I've done to my four day old Praxis. My J's have fared much better. It's kind of an experiment right now. I'm not sure if I've been lucky with the J's or if the base material is tougher. The Praxis will need a grind and tune when conditions improve.

I rolled into this year with mostly fresh skis. My only "rock" skis are my touring skis. F it. I'm sending, bases be darned.

Snowed all day at my place yesterday at 7k. Sometimes very hard. Only accumulated 2" of slime on the ground. Headed back to OV this afternoon for laps with the Freeride groms. fingers crossed for decent snow up high. The gullies under Sibo were fun last week.

^^^ The way I figure any ski should be considered a rock ski, even when I have a few "rock skis" in the quiver.

KW cams look very promising. Currently light snow at the base. Nearly all the grass looks covered. Choked at bottom of Upper Zach's looks filled. All that bodes well. This was the kind of storm that fills in all those nasty nooks and crannies and then becomes a legit base. If we can sustain colder showers through the day, even better. 16" reported at the snow stake which I think is about 8200'.

Dumping down here on the coast. I know this is all headed south, but maybe a bit will keep brushing the zone.

Stoked for ya'll getting some today.

I’ma tele skier. I use knee pads. The only time I’ve ever needed the knee pads to protect me against a rock was at kirkwood after a 10-foot storm cycle. I drydocked on a rock and momentum sent my knee to rock. Luckily I wasn’t going too fast.

I sacrificed my clavicle to the angry angry snow gods on Saturday, so that all ye maggots may reap bountiful harvests of Nino-powered snowpocalypses. Going under the knife today to get T-1000'd.

May ye all not make the same dumbass decision I did and, by dogs, save your fecking knees!

Skiing is a spectrum of bad choices of various degrees of severity. Enjoy it while you can.

Wow, vibes man! Must have been quite the snap for actual surgery on it. At least I broke mine on an epic powder day (and kept skiing cuz I’m dumb). Heal up quick.

Placer county is going to help palisades enforce parking.

    https://www.placer.ca.gov/9520/Count...arking-changes

Lockdown on all Tahoe parking begins.

I am fine with all the restrictions but I just wish their was a useable bus system in our area. Maybe something like Aspen.

Agreed - Mine was >1 cm displaced and comminuted (sp?) and my ortho told me to let it ride. It looks funny but my right shoulder is actually stronger than it was before the break. Hope you feel better soon.

If last weekend is any indication, reservations will consistently sell out, and the parking lot will be about 3/4 full. If we actually get some snow and the mountain is fully open, it will be country club skiing for those that are in - and a bunch of pissed off people that aren't. Lots of buzzwords and marketing mumbo jumbo in the article, still skeptical it will improve anyone's experience.
As for the paid parking in town in the name of "parking management" - fuck that shit.
I'm all for public transportation, but paid parking is nothing but a revenue generator. Does anyone think Cindy or any of those other clowns on the board are going take the bus on a beach day in July?

I'm guessing those were patrol tracks given that area was roped off and the tracks drop from the ridge, but I left early so maybe ropes dropped later on. It was 3-6 inches of heavy snow on top of bumps.
