I ski eternal spring so maybe the cause of glue failure is different. Heat gun works for me.
I also tend to store pomocas rolled. Maybe the glue dries better that way?

My 2 year old Free Pro 2.0 just started getting little glue balls on them, and shedding on the bases a bit. I ironed them using the transfer paper that BD skins ship with, which has worked well. I've had good luck with this on other skins too. Sometimes I iron with the transfer paper, then let them cool before removing the paper. Other times I iron and pull the paper right away. Depends on whether I'm trying to remove some of the old dirty glue. If trying to remove old glue, I pull the paper off right way. Overall have been very happy with these skins. They are def a little fragile though, gotta be careful what you step on and drag them across.
Sawatch is French for scratchy.
I'm looking at getting a pair of these for a 190CM Moment ski. Moment confirmed that 190CM Pomoca should work, but I'm wondering what the difference might be if I go with the 175cm-190CM version or the 185-200CM version?
Like how much tail will there be to grab onto if I put the 175-190CM length on a 190CM ski?
I tend to rip skins without taking skis off, so I like a bit of skin tail tab to grab onto when I reach back.
Thanks, Mags.
I think you’d prefer the longer ones if you care about extra length. Not too much extra tail on my 187 BGs with the 175-190.
Also that way if you manage to teat a tip or tail off, you have enough length for repairs

I've replaced all Pomoca tail clips with theseYes, 100% agree. I think the change happened in skins in last 1-2 seasons. I have 2 pair from ~4 years back and bought the closeout Blizzard branded ones from SaC that are last seasons (?). All have a better tail clip, thicker plastic and wider opening. The skins I got this year (both Free Pro 2.0 and S-Glide) have shittier tail clips as you described. And, to be clear, original clips weren't great but at least fit over my touring skis.
In case you were thinking it, the in-stock replacement tail clips that SkiMoCo has are the new shittier ones as well.
Thanks for the tip - I already looked at the Skimo ones and wasn’t sure. Well perhaps the new ones are more durable.
I have a pair of the old and new ones - they are decidedly different. Maybe the designers wanted to have a tighter fit especially on thinner ski tails, but I find it a bit more cumbersome to use.
May not be generally available quite yet but, any new ski skin from Voile will have them. I'd ask when ordering to make sure since they may not have run out of Pomoca tail clips yet.
Easily adjustable for length and tension.
I'll dissent with the above opinions. I'd go shorter than longer.
The extra material on the tail (a) doesn't contribute to grip, (b) could tear, (c) adds weight (minor).
I guess if you somehow tear the actual rubber tail you would have more to work with, but that seems really low probability. I have gone long(er) with one pair, and I actually find the large amount of extra tail flopping around to be more annoying.
Just my opinion, of course.
What do I know? Here's my current stack of Pomoca skins. I tour a fair bit. 🤷♂️

I've worn the stitching that attaches the fabric to the tail clip rubber stretcher on every pair of Pomoca skins. At first, restitched, but another pair then another.
Tail clips I pictured are riveted with no more worn stitching. Length can be short or long, your choice. And, I tour a bit too!
Edit to add:
I have a coupla pair I use for two different length skis(up to 10cm difference). Adjust the clip, can be done on the fly, and go. Uses a standard strap which rarely break, but easy replacement.
Friendly reminder that you can buy off the roll at skimo.co and affix your preferred tip and tail clips.

Fwiw I could not fit L pomoca skins on 192cm skis so putting them on 190s will be at the very end
wra, thanks for showing the Voile tail clip. I'll investigate that when my current pairs eventually fail!

Interesting. Not doubting your experience at all — just noting that different folks have different experiences on the same gear. I used to ski Fritschis a TON when first released... never had a problem. Many folks I know said they blew up right away.
I grabbed a pair of totally clapped-out Free Pro 2.0's (at least 300 days on this set—glue no longer sticks w/o leaving residue on the ski, fibers so worn that grip is compromised). The thread on the bottom is worn, for sure, but there is so much extra thread that when I tug on it there is absolutely no play/looseness/etc.
Of course not all touring days are equal, and one person's day could have more or less friction. I've just never seen that particular concern on any of my skins.
Agree with you on better tail fasteners. That plastic clip on the Pomoca is a weakness. I've not had any fail but can see how it could. The worst I've had is slippage by one stop once or twice.

Im in the process of replicating 4FRNTs 4-lock design using some 3D printed parts, some shock cord, and some leather eyelets. I'll provide some updates once ive got some photos, but could be pretty helpful on just about any skin design, let alone the pomoca

I've broken 2 pomoca tail clips, one of my partners has also broken two. They don't fit well on some skis, and they don't really cam very well. The Contour tail clips are a much better design, but unfortunately you can't put them on the Pomoca tail straps. Pomoca tip pieces are ok except the bend really easily
Anyone got any advice for cleaning the furry parts of the skins? Mine are so grimy frim the spring.
You can buy dedicated skin cleaner products from most wax brands (and Nikwax I think).
If they are really filthy, I would consider using hot water with dish soap, to get the mud off first, then finish with skin cleaner. However, I have never done this, so it’s just speculation
I use the Pomoca twin tip tail hook on Line Visions: https://www.pomoca.com/accessories/twin-tip-tail-hook. The stock hook is pretty worthless on upturned tails. You will need some tail strap length to use them (i.e., skin should end around 4-6" before the tail).
I’ve used the hoji versions, 4lock so I can’t comment on the standard tail clip but I found the 2.0 obviously very light, packable with great glide but the durability was very poor. I was replacing them every couple of months. They would pit easily then water would get in, freeze and they wouldn’t stick well. And the grip was low but you adjust to that.
Granted I was skiing everyday at the time with some rough approaches and downhill skinning moments so I was hard on them. But they are very light duty compared to full mohair BD. The lightweight and glide was nice tho. And very packable. Especially the Hoji version as they are shorter.
Very curious to see how this turns out! Drilling the holes for the 4-lock system in the middle of a pair of skis would be quite daunting to me!

With the Hoji system how easy is it to remove skins without taking skis off? Seems like that might be challenging.
