I am on a ski buying hiatus, especially for anything big, but if I were buy’n I’d consider the 184cm. Now seeing the 181cm….. not sure when the 184cm went away. If there was only a BG focused thread around here.

the 181 is primarily a 179 with some tweaks (reworked RES in the nose, lower tail splay, slightly more camber underfoot) and 2cm longer nose. The 186 is the same for the 184.

the 184 was replaced by last year's 187, which became the 186 for the upcoming season.

A word of caution here… may be mis-leading. The boss told me the new 186 is the spiritual successor to the old 189…and the 181 is to the old 184. It was a brief conversation… but this is what was said.
Also, the 2024 BG has less camber than last year’s

Were the steeple 102s slightly heavier?

ah, this is welcome news indeed.

What I wrote was current for the 22/23 skis.

Mounted the BGT 110s I got from the summer sale tonight. Replacing some Wailers that were great in Wyoming, less great in Washington.

Anyone know what the deal is with touring layups on the BG lineup this year?

I'm not an internet ninja, but I don't see any way to order a BG in touring layup although the custom builder alludes to a 108 with no listed specs, and have specs for a touring 118.

    +1 to this

I'm sure you could call and ask. Not prepared to buy yet, otherwise I would have done so myself

I emailed a few weeks ago about the BG Tours, sounds like they’re waiting for the molds before putting them up on the site. Also they’ll stock 108s in common lengths but the 118 width will likely be custom only.

Good to know on BG Tours. FWIW, I asked last week about the stock BGs, and the estimate was pressing towards the end of Dec, finished and ready to ship mid-Jan.

Damn, seems a little late for a ski to be available. Guess better late then never, as they say!

damn you Iggy - like I did not want news skis enough already - Jeff110 and 118 tours are live on the site.

181 and 186 sizes on offer, various point break graphics.

There are also a various mangos and jeffs avaliable as wood veneers. So damned nice

Jeff 110 tour is such a great one ski touring quiver for out west imho if you’re into a progressive ski. I’ve had all the regular, stiff regular, tour and 50/50 layup all Jeff 110 186. After my own testing the tour layup does everything I want and feels so much more substantial than other skis in its class.

Those new veneers look amazing. Hope they become a custom option eventually.

Curious what you west coast Jeff/Woods 108/110 daily driver skiers are using as your garbage-to-heinous snow skis, let’s say at least 50% off piste but still fun on groom? Like 88-96 underfoot.

I don’t have anything that narrow in my quiver, so I’m probably offering no real input of value. But If the snow really is that poor to warrant a “carving” ski or a park ski, then I’ll probably just spend the day on groomers skiing switch.

I have a stiff regular layup Jeff 110 that I’m on 90% of the time unless the snow is soft then I’m on a jeff118. I ski Kirkwood primarily

How hard is your snow? I had woods 102s for that slot but they didn’t have the edge hold I was looking for so I flipped them for bonafides that I am very happy with. That said If you want something more playful I don’t have your answer.

I just run my Jeff 108’s and say f**k it. But I’m on Mt Hood, so garbage snow is relative… it’s not Midwest ice after all.

Praxis Piste Jib is a good option, if you don't want a park ski like the Mango 100.

But mostly I tour (or mtb, fish, etc) if the snow is *that* bad.
