I worked/lived with a guy who had some boots with purple stingray uppers. He was a quiet guy, so our best clue that he was shithammered was when he would start tucking his jeans into his boots to show off that stingray.

My boot choices tend to be centered around whatever the OSHA-mandated safety shoe voucher will pay for, maybe throw in about $20 on top. So far my favorites have been Tony Lamas.

I like Ariat's because they fit my foot. Rubber soles. I ain't no cowboy. Tuck 'em in if its muddy for slushy. Saves on laundry.

Funny part is that up here in VT, cowboy boots are the last thing that come to mind when someone says "shit kickers". The former are fancy things worn by city slickers who want you to think they're
Texans, and actual Texans, for an unknown purpose, maybe because they have narrow feet and don't let their toes fully spread? The latter are actual work boots.

It is a continuum. You may prefer the terms "Wellington", "Roper" or "Western Styled Work Boots". But literally, if you are gonna kick shit, you don't want laces. For me, as a trim carpenter, one the finished floors are in the house, its inside shoes only. I wear boots to work and the change my shoes.

Altras, Vans, Ariats, Reefs....thats it. Find shoes you like that make your feet feel good.

Now if Rev would post a pic of his boots, we can help him accessorize with the proper bedazzled jeans and bolos.

I tried Ariats but they seemed to constantly pull my socks down. Justin’s and Tony’s have been my go to. That being said I wouldn’t mind a pair of fancy boy Texan boots.

Don’t forget the ginormous belt buckle.

And the hat. No tiny hats allowed. Ten gallons is ten gallons for a reason.

I was chatting with a salesman the other day who casually lifted his shirt a bit to reveal his nfr buckle. It was hudge. Bet it pokes him in the gut when he sits down. He was not wearing boots tho.
Brandine: Now Cletus, if I catch you with pig lipstick on your collar one more time you ain't gonna be allowed to sleep in the barn no more!
    Cletus: Duly noted.

Justin's are a bit tight on my forefoot. But there are some serious topics being unearthed here.

    1. Dress up Western - lets say you gotta go before the County Commissioner's in say Grand, Gunnison or Jackson Counties, what are you gonna wear? Suit? Get fucked. Some sort of business casual getup with slacks, what about the shoes? If you just go clean jean, boots with the shit washed off, and a shirt (pearl snaps optional), you are good.

    2. Cowboyin', Ranchin', Rodeoin'...they are all related but all different. Dress accordingly, footwear included.

    3. Hats and belts...this is wear you get to add your own flair. Go crazy son!

    Part of dress up Western.
A response from Foggy years ago on here about my description of Cross Canadian Ragweed show in SLC and the local rural boys who came in full rodeo wear " Oh shit, I didnt realize CCR was a full dress show" I use the term often.
    Pearl snaps, natch

    Belt buckles:
    2 things.
What are the 3 biggest lies in Wyoming?
    1. This is my land
    2. I won this belt buckle
3 I was just helping that sheep over the fence...

I have a decent sized Alta belt buckle that gets a lot of use.
I dont wear cowboy hats cuz I dont cowboy. Plus a gentleman doesnt wear a hat indoors as most of these inbreds do.

Who can speak to the full Montana Dandy look that you'll be somewhere like The Town Pump around Great Falls?

American Flag Boots, jeans tucked in, Pit vipers, Cat flat brim, pearl snap with cutoff sleeves, loudest 2nd Gen flat bed you ever heard, toothpick, half gone faded glaze over...

Ah, muck boots or barn boots. If not around actual shit, then it's actual work boots that lace up.

This is where I'm at. They seem to have a terrifying lack of grip. Fuck that noise.

Their presence is strong here and I marvel at otherwise practical clothes people clench butt walking down 2 degree, slightly snowed sidewalks and driveways.

Ohh...and if you want maximum points when you go to the Courthouse, don't forget the boot gun when you show up for jury duty just so you can make the Sheriff go through the exercise of locking it up in the safe for ya.

I wore Whites smokejumpers for quite awhile, but haven't worn a heel since switching to wide toe box near zero drop shoes and boots.

Makes my back hurt just looking at all these boots with heels on them. Also, maybe it's my feet, but I can't handle not having shoes on that don't lace.

Heh, just checked on pricing of my custom built Wesco’s. Looks like a 4x increase since I bought my last pair (30 yrs ago). And an 18 mo lead time.

But they also do a great job of rebuilding. This 30 yo pair is still going strong on their third rebuild.

I have a pair of Tony Lamas for dress, but they aren’t that comfy or useful.

I hear Charlie is a good bootmaker

I’ll never understand the appeal of paying $600 for a custom full grain leather boot just to sit cross legged at a coffee table in them.

LOL. That picture was posed right when I got them, to show my equestrian ranch-owning daughter. The boots stay at her ranch now, worn for riding and even mucking when I visit.

I paid 2/3 of that when I got them, but I want to point out they were and still are cheaper than ski boots retail. And I use them as hard as I do my ski boots.
