Does the VW Routan version have more than both?

The Routan is about equal to a mid level T&C or Caravan inside but it has slightly different body panels making it a real pain in the ass if you need a bumper cover or grill. Mechanically they're identical.

Ha! I saw that on Mark Abma's IG page and thought, well there's a no fall zone for sure.

Boutique British sports car manufacturer is just another way of saying you're going to shoot yourself before you get it sorted.

Those inboard brakes must be a real joy to change out. Probably why the thing only has 20K miles....

So I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get a face full here but I'm jumping in with both feet. I need a small, efficient little car for work, I'm allergic to sedans (and need a hatch anyway), I'm sick of auto tranny issues and I'm really sick of not working because I don't have a car I can trust not to strand me somewhere. I really don't want to pay the Toyota/Honda tax so the Fiat 500 keeps dominating my searches. Are they even sort of reliable?

Funny thing about avoiding the Honda/Toyota tax is that you pay for it either way. Only one way gets you any benefit though.

There's a few still out there in manual hatch land.

    Sonic
    Spark
    Focus
    Fiesta
    Versa
    Mazda3
    Impreza
    Veloster
    Golf
    Elantra
    Accent
    Scion TC
    Fit
    Mini
    500

But FFS, you're going to ignore us anyways, so go ahead and get the 500, or better yet a Mini. We can all use a good shitshow TR when it breaks down in a month or two.

Bobby's used car lot and Free Carfax

Korean is the answer. Not quite the tax as Japanese. Comes in relatively ‘old ford-like’ base models. Wife’s ‘12 elantra wagon manual cost $20k CND and has had zero issues in 90000km. Others with Kia have had similar stories.

Not that I'm aware of. I was tempted by an Abarth I saw here for like 3 grand a few months back. Was high miles, check engine light was on, and it was a bit beat up. I thought it would be fun to buy it and treat as entirely disposable. Just drive the absolute piss out of it, hooning it everywhere, putting no money into it, and when it blows up, it blows up. Off to the junkyard. SO, would I buy one for reliability? No way. Would I buy one for shits and giggles? Hell yeah! I've heard they're a blast to drive. Just don't count on them to be very good is all. I'm sure they're plasticky, junky little vehicles meant to use up and toss. But fun at least!

Is this candid camera ? What is the MPG increase that you need cause I don't think the FIAT is that much better if you factor in additional insurance and 100% certainty the car you'll pick will need service soon.

Mazda 3 and Veloster are your fun options.

Actually, I saw a new Mazda 3 in that iconic Mazda red recently and it looked so good. Like a candy apple you just have to touch.
