FWIW my bolt is from like 2019 I think.....maybe 2020. Not as fancy as that one above but I think the mounts are the same?
Shimano Xt 12 speed shifts fine the first 7 or 8 gears from small as I move up the cassette. By gear 7ish it will start to shift two gears at a time with one click of the shifter. Bent hanger probably? Rear mech/cage seems to be pretty wobbly too.
I REALLY don't want to buy yet another XT mech. With the shitty ass housing routing on this bike I need to just buy a transmission setup and call it a day.
Have people been seeing the 5 Dev Ti cranks breaking too, or just the aluminum ones? Not that I'm in the market, but I've only seen photos of the latter.
I didn't think the Ti ones were actually available yet? I've only seen a few examples of failure of the alloy ones across the interwebs.
I prefer the aesthetics of the eeWings if I was gonna go ultra bling and it does seem like maybe they're more robust, at least than the alloy 5Devs. Never personally heard of eeWings breaking and can't find anything, be interested in seeing that. Doubt I'd break either one myself.
There's nothing better than sliding down snow, flying through the air
Bent hanger is likely. I have a XT derailleur with 2000 miles of abuse on it and the cage is loose as shit, as in I can jiggle it around by >1mm by hand since all the pivots are worn from repeated hits. It stills shifts perfectly as long as the hanger is straight.

No. Gonna try a new hanger.
I think I almost have myself convinced to just run one bike for now. I got some brand new I9 300 w/ hydra mounted up since my Reynolds have cracks. The Reynolds still work just fine though so I am gonna mount those back up with some lightweight tires and play the two wheelset game. I like this bike so much that it's still kinda worth it to pedal uphill and having a wheelset without inserts and heavy casings will make a big difference.
2021 Pike Charger 2.1 w/ HC97 vs 2023 Pike Charger 3 w/ buttercups, either one markedly better than the other?
Looks like with the sale PUSH is running I could score a lightly used Pike and the HC97 for less than a new Pike.
Struggling with a BB30 on older Cannondale Supersix Evo.
Felt very noticable drag spinning cranks so figured BB was shot.
I’m no pro but I’ve never had more trouble pulling crank/bb apart before. Crank spindle unbelievably tight in bearings - other bikes have just pulled by hand or maybe a light tap with rubber mallet - this required a jumble of pvc tubes and bearing press to press out.
Got bearings out and both spin very freely - moreso than repalcements.
Is incredibly tight spindle bad tolerance? Could this be binding bearings in frame when reinstalled?
Could frame cups be misaligned causing issue - any reasonable way to diagnose at home?
Is this scoring on spindle and wear pattern on frame cups abnormal?

I mean - it's a Cannondale... have you checked for cracks?

Crazy enough, but the XTR derailluers are much stronger than the XT’s, IME.

Not worth it's own thread to avoid starting religious battle , but for a 5' 4.5 woman with a s 30in inseam (without bike shoes on) would you go 29 or 27.5 if given a choice in the same bike for a EC light trail/ downcountry bike . Wants to ride rougher rooty and rocky trails but zero air time. Can someone that size handle a modern 29in?
New hanger barely made a difference on yesterdays ride. Checked limits and b-screw as well. Randomly when giving her some mustard the chain etc just seems to want to slip on the cassette/switch gears at random. Chain is like 3 days old. Cassette not worn etc etc.
I'm real fucking close to just pulling trigger on GX Transmission and drinking the koolaid. This bike in particular just does not play well with cable/housing anyway.
