Looking for a mid weight glove with padded knuckles and ideally some protection onto fifth and fourth fingers. Similar to leatt 4.0 lite but with a little thicker actual glove material.

My perfect glove with be a combo of the glove weight of a cross-x from saline with the padding profile of the leatt4.0.

    Anything come to mind?

Perfect! Sounds like collective answer is “you’re gonna die unless you upgrade to WAO unions,” and safety is my only excuse for new purchases at home these days…

Now say I also, hypothetically, can’t build my own wheel, and don’t really intend to learn this minute. Buy the new rim and pay to get it laced up, or buy the complete wheel? My current i9 1/1 hub is perfectly fine, but could try to fix this wheel for a backup as suggested…

Have no experience with the models you mention, put POC DH/enduro-models offer a lot of those qualities

Edit: seems like only the DH-models have padding now

Halfway through your post I was going to say Cross-X.
I've liked the G-Form gloves for protection but the glove material is lighter than what you may want.

I gave up on mtn bike gloves for work gloves, I can punch walls with them or tag a tree, no leather so I don't have to treat them & they don't stink just thro them in the washing m/c and they don't seem to wear cheap at only 28 can$

    https://ca.images.search.yahoo.com/y...g&action=click

    This is my current go-to

thing with a work glove is you gotta try a few on till you find something you like,

I use a thin ODI lock-on grip to account for the extra padding in the palm

    Thanks everyone!
Been looking at moto stuff too. The Bomber from fox is actually ideal but just a touch bulky, but may go for it

    Hestra All Mountain Sr. gloves

Flexible hard knuckle pads over the 4 MP joints with foam behind it, then soft pads over the fingers.

Light, breathable, single layer supple but protective palms with good grip.

I bought for bike park, then I bought 3 more pairs on clearance and use them on any enduro ride that isn't super hot.

I've tried almost everything. POC, Fox, TLD, Leatt.... These kick the living shit out of Fox Bombers for comfort and kick the shit out of everything else for protection. Fairly priced at $55. POC has their similar glove at $90.

    I have these. They’re nice.

My Kitsbow leather gloves finally shit the bed after years of use - right after they announced their bankruptcy. These were the replacement. They’re lighter and breath better, but the leather felt so good.

I have a shit palm injury and while it is healing well it still could use some vibration dampening. I was told by a friend to get the One-Up Carbon bar to help me out, and so I will.

I have no idea if I should get the 35mm or the 20mm rise, what should I get and why?

35mm has more flex. Get softer grips also

Not sure what a "shit palm" is but getting injured there can't be good.

The wrok gloves in my link are dexterious enough and the grip is good for me with ODI's

but I tried on work gloves every time I went into a place selling work gloves to find something i liked so I must have tried on a doz pair

you can't just order any glove or at least I can't

To offer a counter opinion: soft grips absolutely destroy my hands. My hand mushes all over the place with soft grips, which makes me hold on tighter to retain good control, which nukes my hands pretty quickly.

Small-ish diameter (29-30mm) with firm but damp rubber is what keeps my hands happiest.

This has been my experience as well. And also running super thin gloves (Leatt 1.0s) to minimize bunching and blisters.

I found that I’m very sensitive to dialing in the right combo of upsweep and backsweep with any bar. And I’m with toast on grips, once the sweep is dialed all is good.
I did formerly use Ergon GP grips, that can help with wrist issues.

Forgot I had seen these too! These look pretty sweet, standard Hestra sizing?

Also these caught my eye but not much info on them outside of website

That said this sounds like an order of magnitude more impact than what you're usually riding... Is that the case?
Yeha i think you are right about the fork feeling good. I would say its closer to 99% of the time. Maybe just try and remember to add more next time I go to that trail. Think i will go down to 80 before next ride to see how i go

Looking for wisdom re: shuttle dust: 1) Cleaning and re-lubing drivetrain after every unload: Necessary or overkill? 2) After a particularly dusty outing my brakes are particularly f*cked. Firm lever, but terrible stopping power. Are dusty pads a thing? What do I clean them with?

Are 27.5+ bikes totally dead? Someone locally has a 2019 Trek Fuel EX 27.5+ women's for sale . I don't know much about 27.5+ bikes , but don't see them much and don't want to pick up a dead end bike for the wife since whatever she gets she will use for a long time .

That was my thought. Don't think we want to buy a used bike with 40mm ID carbon wheels and be stuck with that. Plus the plus size probably isn't ideal for our local lots of rolling pedaling terrain .
