They live in the Berkshires and try to give off a pretty chill vibe, but given that it's my wife's oldest friend I know that in fact she is super particular and "needs" everything to be perfect. Wedding is in Vermont, outdoors. Ceremony at 4pm.

Dress Code says "Festive and Comfortable" and the wife has been in a "I know you don't want to come anyways so you can read the website and figure it out" kinda mood.. lol.

Can I get away without a suit, or should it just be one dressed up to be "fun"?

I have a gray one, thinking pink shirt and darker burgundy tie if I have to wear a tie.

Definitely not a shorts and Hawaiian shirt vibe, although I'd love to interpret it that way.

    What say the collective?
So what was the verdict? Most VT weddings I’ve been to had most attendees wearing their cleanest work pants and the only collared shirt in the closet.

Sam’s Outdoor in Brattleboro used to have a sign on I-91 in Mass (no billboards in VT) showing black Carhartt pants and jacket and stated “Vermont Formal”.

I woman I worked with called her newest work pants her “church Carhartts.”

Filson wool Mackinaws are called “Alaska tuxedos” up there.

Where in VT is the wedding? If it's at the Equinox or Stratton you'll want a sport jacket; the Old Gray Barn or Magic Mtn deck, pretty much anything that's clean and stain free.

Location isn’t as important as who is getting married. Vermonters or flatlanders who just like to LARP being locals?

If there is a paid florist, it tells you all you need to know.

At the reception will there there be a whole pig on a spit? Or are they vegan?

Light colored, short sleeved button up linen shirt with khakis and nice brown shoes was the right call. Glad I didn't try the suit, it was hot and humid out!

I've had a bourbon bacon boozy milkshake before. It was good, but I'd prefer just to have the bourbon and bacon separately and leave out the ice cream.

You talking straight up bacon flavor or maybe like a nice maple bacon/coffe ice cream flavor? I could get on board with a coffee maple bacon milkshake.

Back when Pinnacle whipped cream vodka was the hot thing, a lot of the brands I sell (sold pinnacle too at the time) came up with some really dubious shit. Strawberry and chocolate ice cream sundae flavored rums, maple bacon schnapps. PB&J flavored vodka. It was the age of introductory closeouts in the booze business. They were just throwing shit up against the wall.

    Introductory closeouts. I like that.

More like management telling us (the sales force) “We know this brand new Swedish Fish flavored vodka is a steaming pile of shit and will likely be gone in a year but we need you to place it in 10 of your accounts this month anyway.”

    No pressure.

Swedish Fish vodka. They should just be honest and sell it in a high school parking lot.

I don't particularly like peanut butter or whiskey, but the Peanut Butter Whiskey by Skrewball is pretty damn good.
