This is a great thread. I've been pretty busy today and was wondering what the hell was going on with this submersible thing. Was gonna have to google it but found out everything I needed to know in 5 minutes by reading the thread. Once again, there is no news source better than TGR.

I'm almost certain you and I own different calculators as I'm not seeing any of those buttons on mine.

Online calculators are the shit. Anyone else remember thumbing through the machinist's handbook to figure this crap out?

I have been in Alvin from woods hole on land and used to know some of the guys who worked it. Standard joke for newbies during their first dives when the condensation starts dripping inside was to say, “oh no that’s not supposed to happen”

the weird things in machinery’s handbook were not related to vivisection for me

is there that much liability risk for maritime passenger carriers? Aren’t things there capped? White Star line paid out $430 (then) per Titanic death and not sure much has changed

What are the odds if they ran into a sharp chunk of metal on the Titanic and imploded?

I doubt there’s anything left of the titanic that wouldn’t turn to dust if touched

Maybe all those future dystopian movies got it wrong and instead of the poors fighting each other for entertainment it’s billionaires dying in spectacular ways.

Leonardo DiCaprio pulled it inside the ship to try to impress some old rich man or swing a blowjob.

Plenty of hungry critters down there who would relish the chance.

Personally I think it'd be honor to be devoured by crabs at the bottom of the sea.
