Rented a Polestsr 2. Surprisingly, the seats sucked. Unsurprisingly, the suspension was stiff and leggy. Pass.

The US state of Colorado is seeking to supercharge its electric vehicle uptake by introducing a $US5000 ($A7650) tax credit on the purchase of new electric vehicles.

The new state tax credit is in addition to the federal tax credit of $US7500 from the Inflation Reduction Act, meaning that people who purchase new qualifying EVs in Colorado are now eligible for $US12,500 ($A19,100) of tax credits, or around one quarter of the cost of a Tesla Model Y.

The new bill states that from July 1, 2023 all Colorado residents who purchase an EV with a MSRP up to $80,000 qualify for the state’s $5,000 EV tax credit.

Interesting. Being associated with Volvo, the suckage of the seats IS surprising. Thanks for the review. The P*2 was on my shortlist of cars to check out since they're a pretty compelling vehicle on paper and used prices aren't bad, but I had no luck finding a single salesperson when I visited one of their stupid ass Polestar "Spaces." The cars looked neat, but their dealer experience is total balls from my limited experience. Didn't even get to drive in one, but the experience was so piss poor it made us want to skip the brand altogether. ESPECIALLY if it meant a tow would require an 80 mile trip each way to the nearest service shop.

My issue, is the build of lightning I want is more than 80k, Every extended range build right now is over.

Now we may pivot and replace my wife's highlander hybrid with 80k with an EV9 when they come out.

We ordered a Tesla model Y long range when they slashed the prices a few weeks ago. It's ready for pickup but we are stalling to try and meet the July 1st date for the new Colorado insensitive.

Kia is going to sell a fuck load of those… is that the first “non-luxury” three row BEV SUV?

"This means the price of a new duel motor Tesla Model Y Long Range drops from $US50,490 to just $US37,990".

Damn. Add in another Musk price drop (fall?) and a MYLR may get close to $35k.

    kia == hyundai.

They are pretty high quality cars.

I have the ioniq 5 sel, long range awd and yes they are great. They aren't cheap. I paid $57k out the door for mine which is nuts tbh. I could have waited and got a cheaper Y with the discount but I couldn't predict the future in October of 2022

Is there anything small, truck, van, utilitarian ish, that qualifies for this rebate (colorado)?

Does the standard IRS rebate reimbursement apply to EVs?

For the feds, it's a tax credit, not a rebate/reimbursement

    https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductio...-2023-or-after

"made by a qualified manufacturer" eliminates a bunch of vehicles

Yes there is a federal tax credit that applies to EVs. Exact amount depends on model. Best source for that: https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/tax2023.shtml

I don't think the vehicle you are asking for currently exists yet though.
Everything you can currently buy: https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...-ev-models-us/
Everything known to be coming: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/g2...c-cars-trucks/

Edit: I think that e-Transit linked above proves me wrong.

Ha...126 mile range isn't gonna work for my application. No wonder I haven't seen any in fleet use around here.

Give me an AWD minivan with more range and I'm in.

Sweet. I'll still need a 3/4 for that kinda stuff but an EV for service work and commuting could make sense and would kill it with the Puffy Coat Mafia.

And the fed tax credit has adjusted gross income limits.

Thanks for the links good summary content. With some upcoming life changes, we're probably just a year or two out from an EV to replace the 20 y.o. civic. Something that can be a daily commuter and make mountain commutes happily.
