I wore a Dre Chronic t-shirt today. One person commented.. Everyone else all day...... nada... . doubt any of them knew what The Chronic was.. Barely know who Dre is..

Thinking about it.. Dre, Snoop, NWA, etc are now as old as The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly, etc were when I was in high school.
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

    Right? Well placed, Maz.

While I certainly appreciated Snoop, Dre, Pac et al from the West Coast, my tastes and immersion of 90s hip hop was decidedly East Coast and more towards the alternative side:

Of course, it all started with the Beasties, De La, the Wu, Tribe, and Bustah, but Gang Starr, Mos Def & Talib Kweli (shout out to Cincy’s Mood where they collaborated), Pharcyde, Souls of Mischief, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the ubiquitous Prince Paul, Dan the Automator and Kool Keith and all their projects like Gravedigaz, Handsome Boy Modeling School, and of course, Dr Octagon.
I still call it The Jake.

    PE for sure.

No love for Arrested Development and Speech?

Also, I hope you guys are like three scotches in. Going this far down memory lane while sober is a bad scene.

This movie was crazy realistic to how life was as a kid back then. You can substitute the skateboard for a bmx bike as well.

Skis don’t really work because it’s about hanging out in your group in the city/burbs getting into shit. Before internet and cell phones. You tell your mom your going to your friends house then hop on on public transit to the city, have a bum buy you some 40’s, skateboard at the hot spots, get into fights, chased by cops/security guards, finger a girl….and home before dark.

Skiing you are removed from society.

So the world is filled with tubular entities. Food goes in one end and shit comes out the other. Sperm goes in and babies come out.

    10-4, Gotcha.

Although, I wouldn't consider the 400' bump me and my degen friends ran roughshod over on a daily basis to be society, much less removed from it, but a lot of those same things happened. To be young again. (and without cellphones)

Agree, the bump in PA I grew up “skiing” on was mostly a dirt weed and underage drinking cover while attempting to break my neck doing 720’s off the mounds of snow piled up under the snow making machines.

All the while, I’ve secretly been remembering this flick.

    Kids.

Unfortunately the trailer does not do the film justice.

The trailer is lacking the rape and the skateboard beat down and the drugs.

Snowshoe was the Wild West BITD. Zero police presence, only a useless and highly bribable group of security guards. A young workforce all too willing to enable the debaucherous desires of a bunch of idiot teenagers. It was college training with some skiing mixed in.

Snowshoe, Wisp, and 7 Springs were all a blast as a young buck. The skiing sucked but didn’t know any better at the time.
