If they made a Weekend at Bernie's 3 today, that would be a fitting location.

I couldn't help but notice this other article in that link:

I launched my mom's 84 Mercury Marquis into a cow pasture outside Whitehall NY at 5 in the morning once. Thankfully didn't hit anything and was able to motor out through an open gate and still made it to Killington in time for work.

I feel like there’s a lot more to this story.

Someday I'll own a Deusenberg. Don't worry, I won't work on it myself

Apropos of nothing at all, one of my favorite race cars of the 90’s:

Didn't know Panoz was still around but wiki confirms they are still in motorsport, or at least a company under the same name. Also didn't realize they owned as much racing real estate as they do/did: Road Atlanta, Mosport, Sebring. Seemed like they were on track to succeed as a sports car manufacturer there for a while with the AIV and Esperante.

Yeah, huge influence in sports car racing at that time. Started the American LeMans Series as well.

First race I ever went to was at Mosport and those Panoz were there (actually the previous white iteration) heard them way before actually arriving at the track. Kind of like the LeMans Corvettes; great deep pounding that you felt through your chest.

I wouldn't exactly call it a beauty. They were odd looking cars from every angle.

No, definitely not beautiful, just interestingly different. The Ferrari 333SP was plain boring in comparison.

I also always liked the Z3 M Coupe though, so maybe it’s just me.

    And TVR's and Avanti's?

If I remember correctly, the founder of Panoz’s dad invented the technology for time release capsules and medication. That kind of jack buys you a lot of ugly race cars, and some pretty incredible race tracks.

It was the technology used in the nicotine patch.

I recall the Esperante had a Cobra drivetrain. Were the race cars also Ford powered?

Yeah, to start. 6.0 engines built by Roush.

I don’t recall exactly when it changed, but I believe the LMP-1 roadsters used a 4.0 Zytek V-8.

WEC field for the Sebring1000 today.

So much sex in there. To think many of these cars and teams will be going right back at it for 12 hours of Sebring less than a day after this race finishes.

I think the new Hypercar/GTPro class is going to usher in a new "golden age" of sportscar racing.

Sportscar racing is the best kind of racing and it isn’t even close F1 parade fans.

Tired of blending in at every cars and coffee event you go? Too late to hop on the JDM trend? Love a fender overhang? Then my friend, let me show you the Citroen BX.

Which can be yours for under $6k.

It comes with a goddamed parcel shelf! Think about the parcels you can cart around!

Citroen was committed to the fender skirt.

How are you watching the race Friday?

That's exactly the kind of esoterica I can appreciate. I should get me one of those.

Just learned yesterday that a FIA World Rally race was once held on the roads around my family’s cottage:

Smiths Falls is a touch more low brow than Monaco.
