Current model runs are quite Depressiing. Just a dusting in the North. Then dry again.

Well shit. The "cancel" seed has been planted in my head. I have 10 days before departure. I can get airline credit on my ticket.
    Plans for Engelberg and Rueras.

Yeah well I wouldn't count on that south eastern flow. It looked much nicer the last few days and has been reduced in all Models..

I am in a similar boat on each model. they continuously get worse. supposed to land either in engelberg or serre che on the 2nd of march and then go from there and things just dont look good. Cancel button is an option. ARGHHHHHH. i am praying that the models swing again but now i am getting super concerned. we want to come but need something worthy. 10 day powder hunt is looking like dust on crust shenanigans.

I'd skip the alps. The pyrenees Look like the only decent option for early march.

I keep seeing NAO forecast trending negative and blogs about the Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW) that's happening will bring snow and cold. Is this all irrelevant or bullshit?

I'm giving it another week before I decide.

Snow or no snow the Alps are far behind in snowpack. If one has the luxury of canceling without taking it the teeth financially I would recommend doing so.

    May happen after early March.
As I've said. Downward propagation is there. But the cold air might Hit the eastern atlantor eastern Europe.

Stratospheric interference is large scale. Medium scale is where and how it happens.
Even then... we need 2 weeks of nirthern stau and 2-3m to resemble a near normal snowpack

Are you possibly canceling your trip to Sedrun?

    I'm thinking about it.

A while ago, I put a bound on it by thinking that if Graubunden doesn't get at least a meter before March 1, I have to seriously consider cancelling. I feel like a shit for luring others into this plan and worse for vendul should I bail. If we give 2 weeks notice and communicate, at least that's within the policies of the hotels.

But Europe can’t be beat on a bad snow year 🤣 Plus it’s a definite part of skiing Europe

My first time to Europe. It looks like Austria is doing a little better, so I have 4 nights in Kitzbuhel before Sedrun. My airfare is non-cancelable. I may got to Chamonix or Zermatt, (IKON) if the Ski Arena doesn't have a decent snowpack and peeps are canceling Sedrun

Consider Hotel Echo in Bad Gastein. They've been getting snow and there's a lot of good skiing at Sport Gastein as well as easy day trips to Mallnitz with possible Moetaller Gletscher tour bad to Gasteinertal. Hendrikka owns the hotel there.

Easy train access with hotsprings there in Bad Gastein as well as slightly downvalley.

2 weeks prior to depart gets us to around March 8 for a go/no go call. Gonna need a monstrous change in the next 2 weeks for that to be a go decision for me.

I love Euro skiing, but I can cancel my frequent flyer plane ticket with only a $75 restocking fee, and I can't see going all the way to Europe for crappy conditions especially when things are generally good in western US.
