As much as I hate seeing two hit comps and it was a shame the centre of the face was garbage, KH makes for one of the more entertaining stops. I love how runs are fall line and there actually turns being made on the faces. I don’t know if the other venues are mellower but there is so much long distance drifting and traversing mid run.

    finally watched this event

Goguen's line was gnarly ... I doubt he planned on airing the slight rollover before that jump; he handled it so well. His line felt more extreme than Hitzigs-> except for that monster backie. I'm just glad to enjoy their show and let the judges decide.

Obviously Hitzig deserved to win but I was definitely blown away by Goguen because I thought he might crash and then hit another air and threw a trick to boot. Say what you will about these KH venues but it certainly delivered in a style both the new age and old school could appreciate.

If u watch both runs- goguens is distantly 2nd.

Goguens- 3 exposure, weird buck zone middle air, huck a back, stomp. Impressive as f’k. Amazing run but who would have thought someone would top that? I was blown away when I saw it….than …

Hitzvig- 3 cornice, double in exposure, 70ft controlled back to perfect stomp…all so smooth and under complete control…didn’t look like he was even pushing himself…so relaxed!

I disagree his backflip was a perfect stomp. Don't hands touching on the landings require deductions? He was overscored IMO but I still give him first.

Apparently he has a brother. I don't know which is which ;-)

    1. Wow. Just wow. I wish they didn’t have to make cuts.
    2. I think the announcing really took the experience up a level. I hope they can pay him to stay on for the rest of the tour. (I think he said he was spending the winter in revelstoke?)
    3. Please tell me Markus Eder is getting a wildcard to one of the next stops.

Also his sister Anna normally does it but broke her ankle I think so she didn't make the trip.

obviously the best skier on the tour. but this isn't the Skiing World Tour.
I guess we're all grieving over the departure of Leif Mumma. I definitely am, the short turn on the small spine right after the first cliff was so satisfying to watch. He's been my favorite on the tour this year, technically impeccable,so dynamic and "squatted out" while never resorting to directional big-arcing: he reacts and reads the terrain so well.

I can't be the only one who noticed how Reine handled the compression after that hit at the beginning of the run. Everyone else before him got bucked, he didn't even flinch. Of course that can't be decisive in the grand scheme of things but I do love a good recovery. Same thing with what Max Palm did in the lower portion of the avy debris.

    Some more brain-farting:
    1. They called it a hand drag but Maxime Chabloz actually did a butter 3 off the top cornice which is a tad more committing and difficult. Loved that.

    2. Love the progression in the ladies' field.

    Overall very enjoyable to watch

Considering he skied that line when he was 14 and did a cork three bigger than Eder’s, and he is a seasoned competitor, and it is steep as fuck there, he definitely intended to sit there.

The part that messed with him was how windloaded deep it was in that zone and how the lip onto the last hit was just a wall of deep snow when it usually forms to be a perfect take off.

Looser run than Hitzig, way more technical though. Hotdogs double wasn’t in exposure, much mellower terrain. Smooth and fuck off large on the backy though. Also, FWT will obv award it to him since he had the standout clip.

They will likely offer him a spot to ski the Bec like he did not long ago. I don't think anyone will have a problem with that.

Anyone know why Tanner wasn't riding in the Kicking Horse event? I thought he got a wild card invite earlier, did that change when they had to reschedule the event?

I was hoping to see the drone angle of Leif's sideways 60' footer with a slide happening near him, anyone see it? I can see the drone in the long lens shot so it was flying - but maybe it f'd up the shot?

I’m pretty sure Tanner is injured and isn’t skiing right now…

He'll do anything to not have to compete against real skiers.

    Oh snap!

That's funny but seriously, Tanner is an amazing skier.

It's funny because he's around 40 years old and he literally hurls himself directly into that tree! I was scratching my head for real after watching that.

Good god Tanner, great skier but seems like he gets hurt so often. Hope it’s not too bad!

It’s more noticeable when you’re such a polarizing figure.

I dunno. He just rubs me the wrong way, and it especially pissed me off the year he was on the tour when Thing #2 was there. TH somehow qualified for the Bec then bailed because he was 'filming'. Bullshit. Took a slot from someone (not the Thing unfortunately) who was out there doing real competing. Then instead of moving down the list to someone who would have qualified the FWT gave someone a wildcard.

Thing #2 said he was a nice enough guy, but it seemed like he strutted around with a big posse kinda doing the 'do you know who I am' thing. Meh.

That about sums up the handful of times I've bumped into him.
