    2022/23 G3 Findr 102 189cm,

Looking for input on the 2022/23 G3 Findr 102 189 cm, anyone who own a pair in the 189 size? Apparently the Findr series are now made in Canada? But a guy in the pretty old (2019) Blister review claims it's BS ...does it make any difference? Looking for a preferably <1800gr ski that can match my Katana V werks 191 but are 100'ish underfoot. Idea with the Findr 102 is to ski it with alpine bindings as i do with the Katana. The VW katana is mostly fine but when it's really steep and/or hardpack I would prefer a ski that's smaller underfoot. From reading lots and lots of reviews and threads I would think a V werks Mantra in 191 would be perfect but as we all know it doesn't exist (why oh why does not Völkl make a bigger VW Mantra? ...). If anyone ski a V Werks Katana 191 and a VW Mantra 186 it would be very intriguing to hear your opinion of the differences.
About me : 165lbs, 5'11 very strong skier. Regulary skis; Original Katana 191, original Mantra 184 + 191, LPR 100 184 (tech bindings), Völkl BMT 122 also tech bindings. Have inserts on the VW Katana and swap between AT and alpine, mainly use them mostly on trips due to the weight saving.

Really curious to see feedback on this post, as I haven't heard much on the Findr in these forums and I have a new in the wrapper pair of 179 102s from 2016 that I never mounted and plan to make a lightweight touring setup out of soon (as my current touring setup has kingpins), but also have thought about an alpine binding mount (I have some new in box Wardens). Sorry to OP for no input, but I am excited for some discussion on the Findr...I got them without a true need at the time (got a deal), hence why still in wrapper and never skied.

I'm similar specs to you 5'10" 165lb...hopefully you get some real feedback...free bump from me

Wonder if G3 changed anything since 2016? I flexed a 189 pair in a shop and it's a pretty stiff ski for it's weight that's for sure. Compared it with Seekr and also Zero G 105, both felt much softer. My idea is to use it as a sidecountry ski, would be nice to have a lighter setup sometimes when bootpacking. Hopefully we'll get some discussion going. I'm located in Europe and actually never ever seen anyone on a G3 ski! Other G3 gear is more frequently seen.

I see alot them up here in Canadia. My bud just brought a pair of findr 102s (181-184 tho) to a hut trip. He heard them get minimal if not soso reviews but like my findr 94s as dd/mountaineering, really have come to like them alot. They are plenty stiff he skied a decent amount of powder with the 102s and had a ton of fun. Has them mounted with alpinist 12s.

The V Werks Mantra will ski a lot more similarly to the Katana than the G3. Here is a great deal at a local shop, but they ship for free/cheap: https://lonepinegearx.com/products/2...a-vwerks-6cb9d

Hear you bro, but saying it. Have you skied the two different lenghts earlier mentioned? E.g max lenght of the mantra is 186 and I,ve no doubt that a 184 VW katana feels very similar but not so sure the 191 does? I've the "original classic mantra" in both 184 and 191 and in pow the difference is immense. Same could be said on hardpack and difficult tight terrain/moguls where naturally the 184 shines.

Cool, what is his approx weight? And what boot is he using? Would be relevant since the few reviews that exists seems to think the 102 is too much on the stiff side of the spectrum.

I know they added magnets in the tips/tails circa 2020.

Excellent, thanks a lot! More or less same as me.
    Is it definitely 184 he's on? Checked the G3 site and sizes are 179, 184, 189 ...
Good to know since if he skis the 179 I would believe it could be quite a difference up to 189 that I consider?
But 184 maybe not so much.
