my son was (is still at 16) the same way

my approach was to always be ready with the next bigger size ski and let him try it when he seems maybe ready - he’s never really ended up on something he couldn’t handle

this was his first day on some Armada Tantrums that were the next step up in size - he won the pond skim on them then skied them the rest of that season and the next

Yeah, I kind of wish I had given my kids a chance on them. Glad to hear they are continuing to bring kids stoke!

Found 3 pairs of little kids smartwool socks in the back of a drawer that no longer fit the boys. Ideal for toddlers. Some pilling but no significant wear.

Free to anyone that will use them.

Tahoe Sports Hub in Truckee had a few pair on consignment a month ago. I saw all sizes. Price was good but I forget exactly how much.

My son will gladly put these to use. Any chance you’d be willing to ship them to CO 80521
    Thanks

Wrong thread? I dunno. My adult ski quiver consists exclusively of race room Dynastar Legend Pro 186s (I think I have 8 or 9 pairs of backup LOL). I don't think that's a very good ski for my new main purpose in life. I need a new pair of skis for myself for resort skiing teaching a toddler how to ride. What would you recommend for me? I've been out of the loop a long time, dont remember where to even begin......

Ski your skis. You can get something lighter and easier but I’m not convinced that makes anything actually easier, and limits your opportunities to rocket around for a few runs when mom takes the little one into the lodge for a cocoa break. With a toddler you aren’t actually doing anything but slide around with them, and as long as they aren’t race skis or spatulas or 215s, you’ll be just fine. It’s teaching intermediates where you want to demonstrate mellow carves and stuff that might be harder to do with guns on your feet.

I spent plenty of days teaching my little ones on 196 renegades.
    focus.

    Mid 170’s park skis.

Soft, short, can follow them into the little trails and jumps. Twin for skiing switch in front of them.

    A million available cheap

I think this is a good idea, but I'd opine that you do want something that actually has edges and some semblance of camber so that your movement patterns are reasonable (just because they're not ready to copy the movement doesn't mean they're not noticing).

I've been using my Bent Chet 100s for toddler duty because they're what I have at the house and not in the coaches' offices, and they work well enough. If I was willing to cart slalom skis back and forth, they'd be a better option--shorter is easier for moving around near the toddlers and not tripping over their skis, and a narrow waist will be easier on your knees. YMMV, but I'm pretty sure that as my kids get beyond four runs of magic carpet in endurance level, my knees are probably going to demand that I switch to narrower skis.
