Anyone selling a 2023 stock liner in a 25.5?
Anyone selling a 2023 stock liner in a 25.5?
It's not that they're garbage liners they are just designed to prioritize touring performance a bit more than downhill performance. I took the stock ZGTP ones (got Intuition Tour Pro's as well) and put them in my old Atomic Backlands and it made those boots feel way better.
TLDR; Ski faster. Quit breathing. Don't crash.
Like everyone else in the touring boot business, they are trying to "make" weight (in this case 1350 grams/26.5 - the original was ~1290 grams but they added a bit of foam) and still have them feel reasonably comfortable "out of the box." It is a fine line, you can make the liner more durable and with better heat molding capability, but at a cost in grams. You can make a greater percentage of the liner foam closed cell EVA and more durable at the expense of a bunch of sales to people who don't find the boot comfortable in the shop. Keep in mind plenty of customers will never heat mold the liner or punch the shell and will probably only use the boot 10-12 times a season . . .
I still donÂ’t believe that anyone actually cares that much about weight. Definitely not as many as the people who care about fit.
The reason there is a perception that people actually care about 100g in this segment is because shops force feed that down everyoneÂ’s throat. They created the hype. IÂ’ve never actually met someone that would prefer their boot to weigh less and fit worse.
Most of the people who are that picky about 100 grams are touring in a lighter class of boot . . . but if I show someone a 1350 gram boot, a 1450 gram boot and a 1550 gram boot and tell them I can make any of them fit their foot, most of them go lighter. Of course, you could always drink one less beer per night, or skip the second helping of pasta, but somehow that doesn't resonate with many people.
So back to the question...any chance we can get 2023 liners aftermarket?
I describe the differences in minute detail - take three boots that match the description, the Zero G Tour Pro, Atomic Hawx Ultra XTD, and Salomon S/Lab MTN - I go through the fit, ease of entry, quality and range of walk mode, progressiveness of flex, quality of liner, etc. (I've owned them all and made them fit my ultra wide feet). I still sell more ZGTP's even though they're the most expensive . . .
Maybe yall are already familiar with the alpine boot horn, but for me it pretty much solves the problem of these being hard to get into. I mean it's still a bit of a grunt but it works fine even on cold overnights. $12 and about 10g: https://www.alpineboothorn.com/produ...pine-boot-horn
Anyone have luck getting the screws in the back of the boot out to adjust forward lean? I got the first one out successfully, but the second stripped pretty much immediately. Was using (what I thought was) the right size phillips, but the screws just seem.. soft? And locked in there good with loctite.
Mine have 4 seasons and the soles/fittings are fine, but there is ankle slop in the shell... any way to fix this??? Or do I gotta buy new boots?
Are the new shells really softer than the 18/19s?

My stock liner is pretty much shot, and was never very good to begin with. Outside of the GFT what other non-stock liners are people running? Pro tours? Tour Wraps? Something else? I don't ski these in-bounds and frequently do 10+ miles and 4k+ vert so playing well with the walk mode is a necessity.
I ran tour wraps in my old XTDs but didn't love them. Was thinking of trying low volume pro tour's this time but am curious what others in this thread are running.
Anyone skied both the pro and the scout? Can you honestly tell the difference in weight or up/downhill performance?
