Could see him saying that. He also got a great video of skiing snowbowl and write-up about calling an old guy with a beard "Dumbledore". I'm looking forward to more content that will be delivered this winter by the cheapest ski tuner in the whole valley.

Oh, he must be that kid I saw the first day I hiked. I'm not old yet, but I'm not middle aged any more. I get called all the names people associate with long gray beards, Merlin, Gandalf, Dumbledore, The Wizard, Father Time, Old Man Winter, Moses. Rasputin is one I used to hear before my beard started turning white.

I called you Rasputin on a chairlift years and years ago, long before I was on TGR. I had overheard someone else casually refer to you by that name, so I just assumed it was an acceptable nickname.

I loaded with you and I said “hey, you’re that Rasputin guy !”.

Yeah, people occasionally called me Rasputin before I started skiing at Snowbowl. It wasn't just the beard, I have the same sort of gaze as he did (which people have often found unnerving), some of the pictures of him look eerily similar to me, and like him, I am an unconventionally spiritual person.

The only knick-name that bothered me (it really was clever, but shortly after 911, made me uneasy to be called that) was "Osama Been Skiin' ". My beard at that time was colored very similarly to Bin Laudin's, and like he was, I am, very tall.

Word in The HoeMan's council of olders drinking beer on the deck, was that the reason they haven't opened Upper Griz, is that they haven't put the pads on poles yet. The Pro Patrol is short handed, and they don't have enough patrollers to open TV (even if we get enough snow). HoeMan tried to sell me on applying, but I'm too older to want to do that job.

Youngers in the area, who have strong sideslipping skills, and are willing to work for $2.35 an hour (Brad distinctly recalls that was the minimum wage, JK), should immediately apply, and throw bombs all winter!

6-10" coming Sunday night to Monday morning. Sounds great, but the bowl stays closed Mon-Weds.

    Skinners should have good conditions

Another data point from today: Chairs are now being put on the new lift. Cloud deck was low so couldn't see how many tho.

Um, so, very exciting about the new snow and all, but tomorrow has a forecast high of -2, and wind chill down to -36. Usually they close on days like that. Discuss, and feel free to wager.

Strangely tonight, it's 33 degrees at sunset in town, tomorrow by this time they expect it to be -7. Interesting weather.

They started to put the chairs on Last saturday. Sunday, The first chair was almost all the way back around. Chairs should all be installed by now.

Interesting first TGR post after three years of lurking.

I noticed the chairs weren't in the lot, but didn't see any on the haul cable.

Wish I took a picture but I didn't. But, when I left saturday around 4:00pm there were approximately 10 or so chairs on the haul rope. Sunday around 4:20pm as I skied down sunrise bowl on my last run, the first chair that was installed was approximately at the top of sunrise bowl on its' way down, maybe a little below it. None of the chairs had the chair pads on them.

Talked to someone as I left the lodge that they are hoping to have the chair running by end of this week. Not sure it will happen but it looks really close.

Yes, mostly a lurker, but I am a long time Snowbowl skier having skied since 1973 during the days when Sam Malasky (sp) owned it.

Classic bowl to not update the website about whether they are even open or not today after promoting today as the Big Day where they will be open every day going forward. If you're up there, I hope your nose doesn't fall off.

    This morning DID NOT SUCK.

They were getting close to opening LaVelle when I left ( they'd set off a half dozen bombs after I heard a patroller say they were going to) , but I was getting tired, and my knee was complaining.

I stayed toasty warm while skiing, and had a great morning skiing Windows and Grampa's. The wind on Griz was almost non-existant, but when I jumped on the interstate on the way home, the gusts were pushing on my car like it had sails.

I discovered yesterday, that in the off season, the stairs and front deck of the A-frame were completely rebuilt. Way to go C-Rad!
