    Apparently, Vermont does.

At least the ones we're aware of, or do you mean the one aging ski movie star who bails on the finals? I always wonder why they chose him? I suspect it's because he's losing eyeballs elsewhere, and the other movie stars (have to think plenty have been invited to wildcard and turned it down) are prioritizing their interests not to get injured. He may be the only one willing.

Plenty of the euros who've been on the tour forever have been in plenty of movies and are legit stars over there as evidenced by the major sponsorships they get as individual athletes.

FWT has never really been much about movie stars anyway. I think it cheapens the events to have guys like that around TBH.

Yeah. It’s coming. Look at the evolution of kings and queens of Corbetts

Big airs don’t make good tv. Gotta have kickers for flippy spiny shit the average Budweiser fan can enjoy.
Bummer its going that direction, but yea budwiper fans can't appreciate the skill and style of an athlete ripping a big mountain line.

I'd like to see variety get more focus in scoring ..like others have said>it's boring watching the same/similar spin trick 20 times in a row

I'd imagine that's in part because lots of the "stars" are produced by N. American companies like TGR, Matchstick, etc.

Aside from Kai Zackrisson, Sam Anthematten, Jérémie Heitz, Markus Eder, not to mention the host of French weirdos around Chamonix.

But that's kind of the point, right? The European culture pushed the best skiers towards competition. The North American culture pushes a lot of the best skiers to say fuck it, let's go jump off of shit and film it.

That's only because Gary Bettman is the worst pro sports commissioner of all time. I used to be a hard core San Jose Sharks fan as a teenager in the 90's... my dad would take me to a few games each year and I'd watch every game on TV... until I could no longer watch their games despite it being my local market. They would air on WGN Chicago and then some contract nonsense and then nothing. Which is insane. So I lost interest.

I think 2004/05 was the best season in europe for icehockey.

The methodology is bullet proof. They only asked preeschoolers and meth Heads and have assigned the pictures a random meaning.

With wintersport films legs of steel and pirate movie productions definitly has an impact on euro stars getting airtime.

But fwt is outdated with natural selection showing whats is cool.

So skiers will want that too.

Maybe fwt gets fis money to build wood features into the bc.

    Then only gates are missing....
I'd much prefer the fwt to natural selection. It's anything but natural. And while powder is great, freeskiing comps are about making the best of conditions facing you.
Natural selection is about creating a 4 hour show out of 45 minutes of content whereas the FWT is straight up 4 hours of content.
And the judging for natural selction is abysmal, or rather, rigged.

I’m amazed that Florida is for alpine skiing

    That made my day
    Yeah. Low expectations day.

Maybe the IOC was pushing the FIS.
There is a breakdance event next summer olympics in paris.

So no backcountry freestyle event in the next winter olympics in cortina.
    But maybe 2030

    These are the biding countries.

    - Barcelona-Zaragoza-Pyrenees – a joint bid from Spain, Andorra and France

    - Sapporo, Japan

    - Vancouver-Whistler, British Columbia

Whistler/Vancouver is out. The provincial gov't (who would've had to guarantee the $$) pulled their support so its dead in the water.

IFSA appears to be distancing themselves from this, which is good news in my opinion. I imagine Shane wouldn't have been so diplomatic.

Maybe there is a silver lining if it opens the door for high-end North American freeride comps sanctioned by IFSA.

    To the IFSA Community:

We have received a fair amount of comments and concerns regarding the FIS acquisition of the FWT. We hear you, understand your concerns, and appreciate your outreach. We are still processing what this means to IFSA, and it will take some time to evaluate the best interests of our community. We value the opportunities presented by our partnership with the FWT and will continue to collaborate with the FWT as we have in the past, however, the IFSA remains an independent, athlete-driven organization serving its 4,000+ member athletes. We assure you that we will be looking to our members for direction, and our actions will reflect the voice of our community. For now we encourage our community to prepare for the season that lies ahead and to cherish every freeride run whether it be a training run, a run with friends and teammates, or a competitive run in one of our 120 North and South American events. This is freeride, let’s keep the vibe high!

FWT not entirely immune to this either.

I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell that we'll ever see two separate circuits at FWT level. It's taken a wealthy man self-financing a dream to keep one afloat. IFSA has very little money and what they do have mostly goes to junior and FWQ costs (besides operations).
