When I was a very young man logging old growth redwood in NorCal we were using a D8 on the far side of the drainage as the tail hold for our tower.

Which on one lift we managed to drag off the road and about 100 yards into the creek below. Ended up on its side. Scary as fuck for us choker setters…

Fucked up the dozer pretty good. Took us three days to retrieve, untangle the mainline and rerig. At least we didn’t lose much oil or hydraulic fluid…

Would have been quicker if they just pulled the traction boards off the roof & used them…they’re not just for show

No it's not. Will tug balls though. Might need a couple of winches.

Keep tugging. I'm just frustrated after running a model 100x today and not getting the same results I got a month ago and debugging why. I'll be here all night. Beats doing spreadsheets I guess

Looks like the Shafer Trail.....that would explain a lot.

Maybe they were shortcutting the switchback?

I'm not sure where this is, but I'd bet money it's not Shafer trail. I drove down it this year and it's much wider, mellower, and dumps out into a large valley, this is going down into a smaller valley. Might be the bottom part of Longs Canyon but I wouldn't bet money on that.

There was mud all over the Tacoma, they might have tried driving down that road in the rain or just after. Maybe the traction is terrible in the mud?

That's a good point, it probably was wet when it slipped off.

It's Spring Canyon - they mention that in the previous video when they go scout it.

IDK if the soil in Moab is similar but the clay around here (100mi south) is slick as shit when wet.

What’s the concept here, besides a roof rack & lift kit?

Ah, thanks. Springs is narrow without much room to slide around, especially the top part. Who knows, it may have been dry and he just wasn't paying attention.

Surprised it took this long for an automaker to cash in.
