Core? Core is bros trying to justify all seasons in place of winter tires for winter driving. Grown ups use the right tool for the jobs.

If your winter driver is measured in minutes or hours, not days or months - they are the right tool for the job….
Go reread the first post in this thread.

Jesus christ, this place can be a real bummer sometimes.
You mean like someone insisting their view is the only correct view and everyone else should bow down and acknowledge? Yea welcome to the trg.

Samuel L. Jackson as Jules Winnfield: Oh, I'm sorry. Did I break your concentration?
So a weekend warrior that skis Alpental and has one AWD vehicle daily driver that lives in Seattle needs to put on snow tires for the 2hours a week they spend on i90 ?
Yea…..no.
Decent tread life on an all season or all terrain is sufficient.
Same scenario but dude has a rear wheel drive BMW as only vehicle daily driver….then maybe put some snow tires on.
The argument is stupid because it’s extremely circumstantial.
What’s next, R value insulation arguments between someone living in San Diego and Burlington?
But I love these arguments and it’s what makes TGR entertaining.

^ you mean your ski car is your daily driver too? Peasant.

I’m too old for acronyms, I’m glad to give you an ego boost, enjoy your all weather tires!

If you drive in places that get ever get cold or snow at all, you should have something AT LEAST all-weather rated (but better yet, full winters).
Saying your all seasons (which they are actually not "all" seasons) are ok for your 2 hour weekly drive to the ski hill because most of your driving doesn't require them is kind of like saying you shouldn't have a raincoat in a place that it rains once a week (because it's usually not raining, you know?). Do you wear different clothes at the ski hill than you do in the town your drove up there from or do you just wear a nice cardigan and some khakis?
And even if you don't buy that and you think you don't need them when the road is dry, winter rated compounds are softer and perform better once the temperature gets below 7 celsius (44 F). They are safer even if there isn't snow and ice on the road.
I prefer to use the right tool that's meant for the application.

Goal: ski in the 2018/19 season
So now we are comparing tires to ski coats.
Haha.

I have all-weathers for my summers... Put them on around April and off around December or so. That means I've got some protection for the occasional storms etc that happen on shoulder season.
Then the blizzaks go on for the worst of the winter but I reduce the amount of wear on the expensive winters when they are mostly not needed.
We just got a foot of snow in Calgary and my all-weathers did great but my neighbor had trouble getting into their garage with all seasons (and even June around here sometimes).

Nope, you just do whatever you need to do to justify your stupid purchases.

Guys from towns with 16” annual snowfall are clearly experts on winter tires.
Dude. You live in Calgary I guess?
Not relevant to my opinion of people living and commuting in a coastal temperate climate (Seattle, avg winter temps are over 45 degrees and no snow on the ground)
If you live in Calgary, yes please use snow tires.
