Neighbors...

Walking out to mow earlier and the dysfunctional neighbor’s son living in his mom’s house behind me walks out at the same time. His adult girlfriend who lives in his shed (yeah, 50 something, been there 2 years now) flys out of said shed, thrown something at his head, nails him hard, and he then swings with all he’s got and knocks her cold out. He’s a big guy too.

I couldn’t believe my eyes. Never seen anything like that before.

His 80 year old mom comes out screaming at him. Girlfriend comes to and even more screaming ensues.

Cops showed up. Both are cuffed and stuffed.
Mom called the cops on em. What the actual fuck.

Keep in mind these are $700k+ houses around here. And she’s living in the shed.
People are weird.

Very similar to me except the owner was the grandmother that died about 8 months ago and the trailer trash are still living at the house.
The home is/was reversed mortgaged with a balance around the value of the house so nobody in the neighborhood knows what's going on. They didn't have garbage service for about 6 months and filled the back yard with shit. My wife finally called the city and it was cleared up after about 60 days post complaint, never mind the rotating mattresses in the driveway for the last 6-7 years. The worst part of the situation is a third grader lives in the house with non stop screaming and fighting. The house on the other side of me just sold for $1.1 mil.

The house west of us has been empty for about a year now after the renters left. They were cool people, never had any issues with them, they'd occasionally toss a chicken back over the fence if it flew in their yard and we'd trade beers once in a while.
I thought for sure the owner had died and the reason the house was empty was some sordid family conflict preventing a sale. The SLC housing market has been raging for some time, nobody in their right mind would leave a potential rental sit empty for a year.

Turns out I was wrong. The owner is alive and well, he just lives in the decrepit shed instead of the house. I finally spotted his ass after smelling cigarette smoke last night and walking around the fence to go yell at what I thought would be teenagers sneaking into the yard. Nope, just the owner, living it up in the 200 sq ft uninsulated garden shed next to the 3000 sq ft house... Go figure.

Our neighbor across the street is an elderly man, and recently went into assisted living.

An old neighbor is buddies with him and has power of attorney over his house. Guy goes to check on the house today and there are squatters in there who have changed the locks.

Turns out ol’ Bernie used to go up to the casino and would occasionally bring back a lady of the night. One of them caught word of Bernie’s situation and decided to move in.

I was in my office working and looked at my phone to see a whole text string from my wife. Apparently my neighbor has been giving her minute by minute updates all afternoon.

Ha. Yeah. I can’t decide if that’s an appropriate way to refer to them or not. The house for people immigrating to the US from Africa as a soft landing where they get a room and access to community services and events. I’ve been angling to get an invite to some of their parties cause the food always smells awesome.
