As for the first link you posted, I don't know who you are arguing against. Nobody said drafting Allen in the 1st round was a shocker, or that he couldn't have gone higher in the draft, just that he would have been a shock at #1. That scouting report doesn't refute that.
Did you read the other articles? Mel fucking Kiper projected Allen as the Browns pick in his mock drafts!

How would it of been a shock? Maybe a shock to you but not the person considered the top draft expert in the media.

Maybe the Browns can trade for Garopolo to fill in while Watson serves his suspension.

I indicated that I read the two you posted; you edited in the third. Yes, Kiper had Allen going first, whoopee. Google mock drafts from 2018 and see how many have Allen at #1. I don't know why you are dying on this hill; nobody denies that a) he was in the mix of all of the QB discussed then, and b) that of all the QBs, he undeniably had the best physical tools. And sure, there may be a Mel Fucking Kiper who had him #1. But the vast majority of the mocks did not. He was expected to go in the top 10, but not #1, by almost everyone. Why is it so important for you to disprove that? Weird.

It is the most recent example (since Baker was traded) of the Browns shitting the bed in the draft. Why are you dying on the hill that it would of “been a shock to the whole world if they chose Allen”? It’s weird.

Allen was one of the more polarizing QB prospects I can remember. All the tools, but none of the statistical production you’d expect. Let’s not gloss over that. Baker was always deserving as top 3 prospect, even if it hasn’t worked out as well in the pros.

Frankly, the best pre draft prospect, and the best 4 year resume, is Quentin Nelson on the Colts.

Nobody is rewriting history, in a re-draft of 2018 nobody is saying Baker should *still* go #1. If your point has always been that the Browns -- in retrospect -- should not have drafted Baker and instead should have drafted Allen, nobody is disagreeing with that. Hindsight is 20/20, and for you and Mel Kiper, no hindsight was needed I guess.

Never forget that success is not just talent. It’s talent plus situation. Especially in the NFL.

Also never underestimate our ability to destroy talent.

Switch Baker, Lamar and Allen one team to the right and the future looks different.

Hating on the Browns seems, uh, kind of unnecessary. Maybe head over to the NBA thread and shit on the Sacramento Kings next?

Absolutely. Allen developed into a good QB. Not so sure that would have happened in Cleveland (or many other franchises).

I think it’s more the Johnny-come-lately-to-page-50-something of this thread with inaccurate assertions and inapplicable MMQBing that Tahoe and others are referring to.

I could be wrong and don’t want to put words in people’s mouths though.

As I pointed out earlier. We’ve got 55 pages of Browns fans pointing out the obvious shortfalls of the franchise. It’s kinda why we’re here.

Ahhh, I see. Consider me not a Browns fan but a rooter for the underdawg and consoler of those who with more fan fortitude and endurance than most teams could ask for.

To be fair there are other teams who regularly shoot themselves in their collective feet, but it's the only team to have it's own thread here, so that's saying something.

Has there been a grass roots movement from everyone with the last name "Brown" requesting they change this team name? It's gotta be offensive to them..

If it would be anyone, it'd be that fat turd in Cincinnati, Mike Brown, son of Browns co-founder and head coach, Mike Brown.

Things that make you go hmmm...
    -------------
Most teams see an improvement in their odds after making a major trade. The Carolina Panthers are not one of those teams. Online sportsbook SportsBetting.ag revealed this week the updated odds for the Panthers to win the Super Bowl following their acquisition of former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield. Interestingly enough, Carolina’s odds are now worse with Mayfield on the roster.

The Panthers were listed at 125-1 to win the Super Bowl before the Mayfield trade and are now listed at 130-1 after the trade. Additionally, the team has seen their odds to win both the NFC (from 50-1 to 60-1) and the NFC South (from 10-1 to 11-1) worsen with the addition of Mayfield.

    Damn, that’s cold.

I heard a stat yesterday that the top two QBs for INTs since 2018 are now both on the Panthers in Darnold and Mayfield.

(Yes, I still wanted Baker as my QB)

Maybe there's something to this injury thing that's not quite public? The Browns front office may not be the smartest kids in class, but letting him go for a paltry draft pick and oddsmakers thinking he's worser than whatever the Panthers were going to trot out before the trade...

Oh it’s already coming out. The Cleveland sports talk radio station, 92.3 the fan, that I stream when I’m in the office has been chock full of Baker temper tantrum/inaccuracy/locker room issue stories all morning. Consensus is he did way more damage trying to play last year than previously admitted (his call to play).

If it wasn’t going to be Jacoby Brissett under center, I’d say week 1 against Carolina would be must-see TV if anything to see if Baker gives Stefanski the same stare down he gave 1-31 Hue Jackson.

That's ecactly what ruined Cam Newton's career.. Playing injured and doing more damage to his shoulder. He still couldn't throw the ball more than 25 yards on target last season. Fitting that Carolina has invested in more damaged goods..

I'm gonna shit my pants if the Browns pick up Cam to fill in while Deshaun gets his timeout.

And starts week 1 against Baker.

Except Mayfield's injured shoulder wasn't his throwing arm.
Damn shame, throwing away a perfectly good white boy like that

Even if it was his off shoulder, it fucked his throwing mechanics and his head.

I'm betting people think his head is still fucked.

Yeah, running for his life as the Watt brothers break his shoulder even further all season wasn't good for his head.
